Soak me in the river Lethe. I would like to wash my mind clean.

It’s too vivid in here. Nightmares and waking dreams. Breaking upon me, leaving me shuddering, gasping, shaking like a leaf in the wind. I don’t want this.

I want to float, emptied, on the river Lethe. I want to forget.

There is no comfort in the void. Just digital noise and cold silence. But I still drop my words here like pennies into an unfathomable well. Down various wells, from many platforms, into the same cavernous abyss.

Sometimes the void speaks back. It always hurts. I don’t know why I keep doing it.

Posting into the void. An echoing voice. I’ve fallen off the edge, lost track of the world, calling into nothingness, and the void eats my words.

I can’t pick a social media home. They all feel like flotsam on the wide empty ocean. And I’m floating with them, a bit of shabby crumbling debris.

The Wayback Machine is a vital internet tool that needs to exist. Record labels always out here trying to trash progress and documentation because they don’t directly profit from it. They were wrong in the 90s-00s - streaming is the current paradigm after all - and they’re wrong now.
📢 The Internet Archive needs your help.

At a time when information is being rewritten or erased online, a $700 million lawsuit from major record labels threatens to destroy the Wayback Machine.

Tell the labels to drop the 78s lawsuit.

We at the Beaverton promise that, had we been afforded the same absurdly preferential treatment as Rebel News, we would have shut down the post-debate scrums TWICE as quickly and disgracefully.

On Friday, swam laps in the laps area of a public pool for the first time ever outside of lessons. Breaststroke, at a fairly leisurely pace, but still.

Didn’t realize the community pool had different speed lanes, and people were using them as suggestions at best. It was liberating 😅.

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

Tried running today, as a beginner of course. I can run without limping again! It’s only been freaking 5 years since I broke my leg 😅.

Having the stamina to actually go for long walks, now that I’m getting off escitalopram, has let my ankle finally improve I guess. I’m so happy 😁.

being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:

Metro Vancouver mayors have to figure out — and soon — whether they can agree to raise property taxes to meet the unmet gap in transit funding, or hope for a better deal later this year and suffer the consequences if it doesn’t happen
We've been getting a lot of questions about the federal funding announcement today. Does it address TransLink's operating deficit?

Short answer: no.

Long answer: check out this article on CTV News.

The Bay going under is profoundly depressing. They needed some kind of shakeup to pivot into the new century and keep up w/ what younger people wanted. They’ve just been so disorganized for so long.

Only a few Ontario and Quebec stores saved. For now. Feels like losing a piece of your childhood.

Appropriate late night song. This one plays in my head occasionally. “Mais comme le vent, elle s’en allait / et moi j’suis réveillé / ouais moi j’suis réveillé”

Sorry, on a music kick, feeling like telling the void about it.

Favourite song off this album. The kind of song that can totally transport me.

It’s been a day. Two days. A month. Maybe four. 😔. Anyway I love this song.

Getting back in shape a bit, mostly from having energy again and the desire to spend it. Learned a thing today. 40-60 min walk around local streets/greenways, no problem. 40-60 min hike in a local ravine park with roots/stones/wooded paths/mud/slopes/stairs… not yet, not ready yet 😅🤕😅. Back ow.

20 years together with D @charpix.bsky.social, and we went to a burlesque show! Like the first date 20 years ago! This time at The Rio instead of Wise Hall. Still on The Drive hah, and we had fun 😊.

Never been to The Rio before - it was cool.

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.
