It's come to my attention that likes are public, cannot be made private, and are being used to draw inferences about people's character. I'll say now: likes are a matter of what a person sees & them clicking a button. They're not a declaration of allegiance. They're a nod, "Nice", a thumbs up.

This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

When a big media company uses genai slop instead of human made art, it is not just taking a job away from one artist to make that thing but *multiple* artists involved in all the things.

The entire artist-hiring pipeline gets destroyed in favor of chugging from the hot dogshit pipeline.

If the government "only" has a £20bn hole in the finances to fill, they ought to do Zack Polanski's wealth tax - predicted to bring in, I believe, £16-25bn per annum.

But they are a rubbish government in thrall to big money.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 422:
How to tell whether a secondary character stands as a person, rather than a just token. Ask:
Do they have friends apart from your MC?
Do they have hobbies, ambitions, a relationship, a job?
Do they have a life away from your MC?
If not, why are they there?

The pandemic was a mass-disabling event and one of the reasons it has largely vanished from day to day political discourse is that those in power don't want to acknowledge the long term care needs it produced.

This is terrible news. I mean this wholeheartedly. Teen Vogue was for a while a real firebrand in US Politics, informing the younger generation with incisive and truthful commentary on the shenanigans in the White House. They were an asset to the American public, and thereby to the world.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
