For #NationalHummingbirdDay, 47-million-year-old Parargornis from Germany was a proto-hummingbird with short wing feathers like a modern hummingbird but a short, broad skull like their cousins, the swifts. Perhaps hummingbird ancestors started hovering before they drank nectar. 🪶🧪 (📷Mayr)

Did a audio redux test yesterday with the scene of the Triceratops and T.rex in Willis O'Brien's Ghost of Slumber Mountain. Haven't mixed sound with music in a long time, so I'm a little rusty. But I tired.

Score used from Walking With Dinosaurs The Arena Spectacular. (1/2)

It's kinda funny that atheists use Satan as a talking snake to point out how fantastical the bible is, but not point out how if the flood actually happened the earth would be an uninhabitable salty wasteland

I don't think I ever shared the fully edited breakdown reel of my T. rex model.

I've changed the texture maps a bit since compiling this (dirt pass and proper roughness maps), but I don't really feel like re-rendering the whole walk cycle again, especially not in this heat...

New at #Patreon: discussion of this scene of Sinosauropteryx waiting out a feeding Yutyrannus for carcass access. Or - hold on - are they waiting for their parent to feed them? Behold, the compsognathid identity dispute, now #paleoart flavoured! #sciart #dinosaurs

Colombian paleontology is frustrating because you either have an entire ecosystem of indeterminate animals, undescribed near complete articulated perfectly preserved animals or understudied formations that could be interesting fields of study for paleobiogeography
