Cat dad, pretty decent fiancé. American in Australia
Not enough people are talking about the Eucadorian consulate official who turned back ICE. That man stopped a foreign intrusion with the power of an authoritative walk and a low tolerance for bullsh*t. Whatever Ecuador is paying him is not enough. Give him a medal.

The employees at an NZ post helped me save over 100 dollars in December by letting me split up one big parcel into several that were under 1kg. Without their kindness I might not have been able to send Christmas presents to my family overseas. These are the people who may lose their jobs.

If they are doing this to white people in broad daylight imagine what they are doing to non-white people in detention facilities.

Quick question who else “was just doing their jobs” back in the day?
Fox News is defending feds killing another Minnesotan: "They are literally enforcing the law. These are targeted interactions, these are targeted operations. They are simply doing their jobs."

Been up all night watching live feeds of Minnesota just to torture myself I guess. I feel like I have to see it with my own eyes.

I think we're past the date in the textbook when the Second American Civil War starts.

Why is every over the counter medication in Aus and NZ made out of freaking milk?! I thought the first time with the melatonin was a fluke, but no these allergy tablets I got for my BEEF AND DAIRY allergy contain lactose. Why are we making medication out of one of the world's most common allergens??

Finally unpacked the books we brought with us from the US and discovered that I did bring my battered thrift store copy of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. When I bought it, the elderly cashier remarked on how much Whitman loved "this country." It's so strange to have taken it away with me.

The United States needs to realize that the world does not need them. They are not necessary to the survival or the prosperity of the free world. We will move on without you.

This is a photo I took and edited of my favourite childhood cat. I was just a young teenager in my backyard, and it turned out so well that it I fell in love with the medium. It's part of the reason I do what I do. Of all the pictures to change, she changed this one. Seen here without AI.

My mom has discovered Chat GPT and started sending me AI "paintings" of my photos. I am a photographer. I'm trying to explain how hurtful this is and it's just not getting through.

I'm still part of some online groups for people looking to immigrate to NZ and Aus. I noticed recently that those moving from most of the world are young single people. From the US many, if not most, are families with children. I don't have words for the gravity of that.

So nice being out and about without my passport. Officially not a tourist!

It would drive narcissists crazy if they could realise how formulaic they are. Once you've dealt with one narcissistic you've dealt with them all. Not an ounce of singularity. Yet each of them fancies themself the most unique and interesting person in existence.

I'm really tired of waking up every day to read about a new atrocity. I hate the way it makes me so full of hate.

There is a goddamn angel working at the Vic Roads in Carlton. My eternal gratitude to Lisa for doing twice the work to make sure my Australian liscense has my new name on it. The queen of all allies.

I've lived in lots of places that brag about how weird their weather is, but after only 6 weeks I think Melbourne takes the cake. These temperatures look like a yoyo on speed. 41 and 19 should not be so close together!

Rugby is better than American Football in every way, and the only reason more Americans don't watch it is they can't handle men touching each other's butts so much.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

Went out to the protest in Melbourne and got sunscreen all over my sign. A bit awkward to chant "Yankee go home" as a certified Yankee, but only one speaker was really violently anti-American, and there was a lot of push back from the crowd and organisers. Impressive turnout on such short notice.
