Cat dad, pretty decent fiancé. American in Australia
We stopped by the park after an open house and encountered this well dressed statue. She is dedicated to the women who cared for the veterans of WW1. The scarf was clearly hand crocheted. Someone put a lot of love into it.

Franz Marc is my favourite! The colours are so intense in person. I saw some of his paintings in Munich and got a postcard of Cat Behind a Tree.

Did the touristy thing and carved some Pounamu. Really freaking proud of it.

Hot cup of coffee in Dunedin (and breakfast on the way) after our aurora all-nighter.

This picture does the rays a lot more justice. We could see them just with our eyes.

Kiwis get outside and look for auroras ASAP

Finally went to the cardboard cathedral today. I've wanted to see it since I was a teenager, but I wasn't expecting to get emotional the way I did. A beautiful symbol of hope at a time when I feel I am rebuilding my own life from the ground up.

The country of my birth may not want me, but someone else does. She said yes! Well worth the windy hike to the top of Mount Sunday. It's been a wild ride and I can't imagine weathering the storm with anyone else.

Good morning Ōtautahi. I think that's gotta be one of the top 5 sunrises of my whole life. #nz #sunrise

There is nothing more breathtaking than the stupidity of one's own past self.

Throwback to that time I tried (and failed) to set up automatic ISO.

Editing more photos and missing Lake Taupo today. The morning fog was so magical. I swear I saw Avalon once - an island shrouded in mist rising from the center of the lake before the sun rose. No pictures of that of course. #photography #nz

Quite happy with how this shot from Taranaki turned out. #photography #trees

Finally editing photos from from ages ago. I'm a little rusty in lightroom. This is from the big road trip in spring of 2024. How different my life was then! I think I nearly flipped the car pulling over to get these in middle-of-nowhere Arizona. #photography #Arizona

I see we're all awake now! Part of me desperately wants to go down to the dunes to see the waves but I KNOW BETTER and that paragraph of the emergency alert was definitely aimed at me 😅 Here's the latest chart from geonet. #nz #tsunami

Nearly froze my fingers off to see the sunrise this morning and it was worth it. Christchurch is growing on me.

Stopped to see the sea lions on the way to Christchurch. These two looked as tired as I felt by the end of the drive.

No pyrotechnics in Nelson. Just rain, rain, and some more rain for good measure.

Just my luck 😭

I saw this phenomenon on the way to Nelson a few days ago. I couldn't stop because it was getting dark with plenty of drive left, and my lovely partner was feeling sick. Still one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I'll be thinking about it for a long time. #nz #photography

I think this is the most beautiful color I have ever seen in my entire life. The waters of the Cook Strait. #NZ #Aotearoa

This is the ideal map. You may not like it, but this is what peak cartography looks like.

I just submitted a feedback ticket to @cornellbirds.bsky.social asking them to include Te Reo Māori names in the species entries of their Merlin birding app. #aotearoabirds
