Data-rich calculations put minimun death toll at 60,000.

650,000 in Tawila now at risk

Poor drivers. If only there were another way of getting in and out of Manchester city centre. Thoughts and prayers 🙏
The annual Manchester Christmas tradition of getting stuck in the Arndale car park for hours has returned.

To suggest that having lived a life so grim that even an English tribunal will grant you asylum, and to have somehow managed to get here at great risk to life, is a "golden ticket" is absolutely fucking contemptible. Shame on this so-called Labour Party.
No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

Once again the UK is complicit with a genocide. British arms sold to the UAE are now in the hands of the RSF in Sudan.

It’s time to stop putting profits ahead of human lives.

@rory-stewart.bsky.social Not a good look on #newsnight tonight. First it's, "let's talk about the good stuff the king does" then "there are more current and important things to discuss" - just sounded like more of the status quo, a parliament unable or unwilling to challenge and govern the royals.

Kemi Badenoch blames those crossing borders for our problems. It’s a lie aimed to distract.

The real issue is a system protecting the super-rich while nurses & carers can’t make ends meet. Tax wealth fairly, fund public services properly. This is how we give Britain hope again.

Wish I could say I was shocked, but here's the Labour government constraining the right to peaceful protest again...

'You can protest but only according to our rules. The rules are: you're not allowed to use any of the tactics that make protest effective.'
NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.

Here's a better idea: every data centre you build, you build enough renewable energy to power it, and you supply the waste heat from your cooling system to power homes and businesses nearby. Simple. Common sense. And fair.

Ok, rant over for now.

TLDR: the UK political system seems designed to waste everyone's time, hinder progress, and exclude people, in ways that frustrate me every single day.
A progressive government would fix it. Lords Reform is a good start, but there's so much more to do.

I am sickened by the relentless demonisation of refugees.

No refugee underfunded a school.

No refugee closed a hospital.

No refugee took away support from the sick and disabled.

We need solutions not scapegoats. Stop blaming refugees and tax the rich instead!
