Donald Trump’s demand for a billion dollars from the BBC comes from a local Florida law firm. It was sent to the wrong address, and the writer didn’t know what ‘salacious’ really means: ‘Due to their salacious nature, the fabricated statements that were aired by the BBC…’

Well, this is quite a serious allegation. I do hope the BBC shows true impartiality and investigate whether or not some of its Board members are systemically biased. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/n...

#r4today Somebody needs to point #chrismason at this tag if he thinks that criticism of BBC News comes primarily from the right. Plenty of progressive, green, lib-dem and/or leftist voices screaming for more balanced coverage. Not just Tory twats like Charles Moore or ghastly Reform nonentities.

#BBCReithLecture in Edinburgh. Fascinating & provocative talk from @rutgerbregman.com My quibble. Didn't get to ask. Neoliberalism is in my mind about making individuals responsible for their society. i.e. there is no society. His vision seems also individualistic. I think that individualism failed.

#r4today parroting "radical left wing socialist" line about #mandani He wants childcare, affordable housing, functioning transport systems. Working class issues. Not state ownership of production. Emma surely agrees with better childcare

Hasan Piker (sp?), analyst tells Justin identity politics aren't the problem. Says Democrats need to talk about acting on "material harm to working classes". That's the problem. My family in US say the party had its chance to do that. The party keeps coming up short. Hence Socialist Mandami #r4today

It seems to me that if the funds put into solar and wind power innovation were applied to waves then this would be any island's super power. Makes sense that US and China might not go there. But UK surely should.
In a sea of renewable energy technology, wave power hasn’t yet made a splash. Reporter Jes Burns shares the latest on a massive wave energy testing site in Oregon, and an ocean engineer explains what’s going on with the tech elsewhere.
Why Hasn’t Wave Energy Gotten Its Sea Legs Yet?
It’s hard to convert energy from the ocean into electricity, thanks to a tough regulatory environment and, well, the ocean.

Here's one for #chrisphilp @scottories.bsky.social etc. If police are delegated to run around checking young black men on a vague suspicion of having knives, can we expect the same or slower response of said police to reports of people actually carrying knives #peterborough

It is irresponsible, & simply wrong to demand, proveably ineffective policy because a single, uniquely horrifying event occurs. #chrisphilp 's road crash interview #r4today Medical treatment for knife attacks down at least 30% from peak in London. Something else - not sus laws seems to have worked

Me: Saltwater or freshwater?
Him: Huh?
Me: Sorry, thought you said aquarium, but a saltwater accordion would be good for a sea shanty.
I know what for Christmas. A saltwater accordion - knitted. Should keep neighbours happy.

Local government isn’t “boring bureaucracy.” It’s social care, housing, libraries, leisure centres, youth clubs.

When these vanish, communities fracture – and people notice. When local government breaks, so does trust in politics itself.

If it makes a difference to you whether people in an advert have different coloured eyes or hair from you - you're an idiot & a danger to society. Same applies for skin colour. If you decide whether a person in an advert is British by their skin colour. Then you're racist. #sarahpochin #reform
