I've several stories about the meaning of a 'tuppence dish' - wondering if you have a definitive one (and who was Martha Rhoden anyway)? 😱

Apparently Martha was a potter whose pots turned out a bit wonky and the Morris team have a handkerchief dance named All Asident so they took their name from the saying.

But were they as wonky as one of Martha Roden’s dishes?

The Cross Foxes, Shrewsbury. Loved it. Locals shouted ‘mind yer ‘ead’ as we walked in, the ceiling isn’t forgiving if 6ft plus. Pint of bass and scampi fries. Perfection.

My favourite pub in Shrewsbury, The Nag’s Head. They promised fine dining and they weren’t wrong.

🎶 I see bins of green, red ones, too.
All full of grit, for me and you.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world 🎶

Season's greetings friends and followers - may all your grit bins overflow with festive cheer!
