This was Dani, beloved pup. We lost her in 2019. But we got a few weeks of temporary steroid magic after a scary ER visit and CPR conversations. This is her story 🐾❤️ and ours

I first wrote this as a series of voice notes in between home hospice visits during my HPM fellowship last year. I didn’t expect these visits to impact me quite the way they did.

In agitated delirium refractory to haloperidol , increased dose haloperidol was no better than placebo. Lorazepam, alone or with haloperidol, significantly reduced agitation, lowered rescue med use, and showed no survival or adverse event differences.

The 19 richest U.S. households saw a $1 trillion wealth increase in 2024, a rise that exceeds the size of Switzerland’s economy.

These 19 households now control $2.6 trillion in wealth — almost as much wealth as the bottom 50% of American households.

If this isn't an oligarchy, what is?

Breaking: Harvard's response to the government's threat of withholding research grants to exert control over universities 👇

Research grants are not political weapons. The stakes are not abstract: Every $ withheld is a delayed cure, a patient or family left behind.

Here is the situation if I’m understanding it correctly:

1. They are deporting lawful immigrants erroneously to prisons overseas

2. They are claiming no recourse to return these individuals

3. They say they are open to deporting citizens in the same way

A colleague, a surgeon at a VA, was informed their job will now be in a contract role rather than as an employee with benefits. Veterans will suffer from these changes in the name of “efficiency”
VA employees got an email telling us there is another window to sign up for deferred resignation, 4/7-30 (the first notification was 4/11🙄). This is to get from 470,000 employees to 398,000. This will “result in better customer service and convenience for everyone the department exists to serve” 🙄🤮🤦🏻‍♂️

My uncle, who invests,
says don’t worry
the markets will recover,
he says we should all learn
from the pandemic:
the markets suffered
but the markets recovered,
and I suppose he is right,
but what I learned
from this pandemic
is that the markets recover
but many people never do.

So far there have been three measles deaths in under six weeks in the ongoing US measles outbreak.

Prior to this year there had only been three measles deaths in the United States in total in the entire last thirty years.
Third measles death
This is not normal. For three reasons.
