I so extremely do not understand the German government's fascination with hydrogen power.

Unfortunately as a tax payer I feel I have no say in this process.
German taxpayers are handing BMW €273m to once again attempt to push hydrogen-powered cars, when battery prices have once again dropped >50% in the past ~18 month and CATL is on its 5th-gen LFP battery.

CATL, BYD et al must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Sigh.

Uh, ok, never mind my questions about trade policy. I think we are very much at irreconcilable differences here.
All drug use outside palliative care should be criminalized and possession of dealer quantities should be punishable by death without appeal.

As someone with aphantasia and SDAM, I didn't love how much the article focused on the likely "trauma" of having these conditions.

I did learn to take a photo of events I want to remember.

Also I love fiction/fantasy books and had long distance relationships where I extremely did not forget them!

Industrial strength battery storage systems in sufficient quantities plus smart management software can also do a lot to stabilize the grid. I find the article really alarmist and not constructive.

CDU tried to ban the use of gender inclusive noun endings ("Gendern") in Hessen, stating that single gender nouns are intended to be inclusive.

So the fire department chose to use only the female version, and CDU is suddenly finding it not inclusive after all.

Random math fact: the golden ratio (1.618) is very close to the conversion ratio from miles to kilometers (1.609), meaning you can use the Fibonacci sequence to convert between miles and km: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597, etc.

A neat tool I just came across: Viabundus, a digital road map of northern Europe 1350-1650, that lets you calculate contemporary travel routes/times. In 1500, going Amiens → Köln by horse took almost 7 days and 13 toll payments.
