Yes, some people's legacies are complicated. For example, Watson. After all, though he was racist, don't forget his other traits. For example, he was also sexist. And also anti-semitic. And a data / idea thief. So let's not forget all the different facets.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

If you don't think rando MPs (and whoever else they share it with) should have access to personal information of individual applicants, reviewers, and students, confidential data, & full applications and reviews in every Canadian research grant (funded or not), please sign.

This is dangerous and makes a big step towards political control of science
Canadian researchers should be aware the there is a motion before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Research to force Tricouncils to hand over disaggregated peer review data on all applications:
Applicant names, profiles, demographics
Reviewers names, profiles, comments, and scores

It's OK to not be OK.

There's no shame. The brain is an organ. Just like the pancreas or the lungs. You wouldn't be ashamed to ask for help with lung disease or diabetes. Mental health is no different. Any organ can get out of whack occasionally. The brain is no different.

Having a mini science nerd moment- made it to the WEHI to give a talk! I have used cells that were made by scientists from here since 1999- this is kinda surreal. The talk will have data from the cells 🤓

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped us surpass $10K. We still need $13K+.

My kids are committed—they understand how vital this research is & know ~43% of Canadians will get cancer, with 25% dying from it.

They don’t want that for their generation. Please support or share their link:

Grave threats to academic freedom abound, including in Canada.
"Why would it bow to antidemocratic pressures by placing a professor on leave without their request, consent, or involvement? That any university would do this is beyond comprehension and is cause for alarm about the future of academic freedom in Canada."
What Happened to the University’s Commitment to Free Expression? Charley Kirk, uAlberta, and Me | Centre for Free Expression
I was shocked when the University of Alberta administration informed me, one of its law professors, that I was being placed on non-disciplinary leave for my social media comments in the wake of Charli...
