In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

I Have That on Vinyl is read/self funded. I pay $20 per essay because I believe in paying writers. No one should write for free. I realize $20 isn’t a lot, but it is the principle of the thing; being compensated for your efforts is important to me. That said, $20 for each essay, with an average of 3-4 essays a week, adds up. I’m having a hard time keeping up with this, as I am on a fixed income.
