If we lose the Fourth Estate, we lose our democracy. We are losing the fourth estate. Very quickly. We are being lied to every day. We need to stand up and shout in order to get the news media back on track. It won't happen on its own.

I'd like her taken down for animal cruelty, murder, or treason, but tax evasion will do. It's worked for mobsters and drug lords, why not for her? Whatever gets her out of power, and off the streets, is fine by me. (Just, please, don't give her a reality show; let's collectively forget her!)
Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

Reports and videos show ICE agents asking American citizens whether they’ve “learned their lesson over the last few days” are deeply troubling. Language like this implies intent and raises serious questions about premeditation and mindset on the scene.

The goal here is martial law. It’s martial law. Let’s be clear about that.

Energy: a bully bragging that he's stolen a small child's lunch money.
You would think a 79 year old man would know the difference between receiving an award that is deserved and taking an award by extortion.

The latter is the opposite of "an honor."

Does anyone think it's a weird coincidence that these shootings took place back to back? It's almost as if someone told them to "step things up." It's almost as if someone wants a descent into chaos. Like someone is seeking a rationalization for declaring emergency martial law. Just a thought.

Why do some people disable their replies? I'm actually curious. I don't really understand it. If this were Twitter (or "the platform formerly known as Twitter," now going by simply "Twit," I believe), I'd get it, but no one is picking fights on Bluesky, are they? If they are, I've not seen it yet.

“We know what the federal government says happened here,” Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said at a press conference Thursday evening. “There was a time when we could take them on their word. That time has long passed..."
Elected officials in targeted states are being far braver than our reps in DC.

How do these people sleep at night? They orphaned a child. The so-called "family values" party could not care less about ANYONE'S children. This was inevitable. Give a bunch of incels masks and guns, then turn them loose on civilians? Of course they were going to kill a woman. OF COURSE THEY WERE!!
Yes, JD. Let’s ask them if they think a stay at home mom, avowed Christian, and widow of a veteran deserved to be shot in the face and left to bleed out in her own car after dropping her 6-year-old off at school, for the crime of looking out for her neighbors. Let’s ask everyone running for office.

I just responded to a request for people's N.Y. resolutions with the answer, "die soon?" I should probably not be on bluesky in a black mood, especially once I have a glass of champagne. Just don't feel there's much to celebrate this New Year's, I suppose.

I'll say it again: I worked as a television news producer for 10 years. Watching what is happening to what used to be our reliable news outlets has been beyond disheartening to me, and continues to be so.
Journalistic integrity used to be something to be proud of. We sure weren't getting rich.

The slow and steady de-evolution of the fourth estate is our death knell as a nation. Without honest media, doing an honest job, we are all in the dark. We need news, not another propaganda machine. Kudos to all of the journalists online, still doing it properly, for little recompense. Stay strong!!
The loss of CBS News is devastating - the pantheon of journalistic integrity just gone. Poof. In like an instant.
CBS Sunday Morning, 60 Minutes, & Face the Nation are now all moving right. It is massively sad & tragic.

How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

1. Break up corporate monopolies
2. Continue building union power
3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.
