If we lose the Fourth Estate, we lose our democracy. We are losing the fourth estate. Very quickly. We are being lied to every day. We need to stand up and shout in order to get the news media back on track. It won't happen on its own.
Same!!!!

Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass may well be the best thing I've ever seen on television. I showed it to my 80 year old parents, and my father felt the same about it as did I: truly magnificent writing, which managed to sightly sooth my near constant existential crises.

I could not agree more. I've known so many women willing to make insane compromises in order to avoid being single. I am definitely not one of them!! The misery of being with the wrong person is unparalleled. (Though I'll admit that a double income would be helpful.)

It's like a sort of spectrum running from Van Gogh to Marlin Brando...

Aw, thanks!!

Gross. Tell his victims to just "move on." Those girls (now women) do not have the luxury of putting it behind them. Every time this evil man speaks or writes I despair even more for humanity, and for this country.

Thank you. *hugs back*

I don't feel confident about ANY look, so I generally try to appear as inconspicuous as possible.

Thank you!!! So far I'm not leaving the house like this, but I'm working my way up to it!!

I've read three out of four of those books. When I was a little kid my mom wouldn't let me see horror films, but I could read anything I wanted. (I was well familiar with Stephen King by age nine... Very educational stuff.)
These days I'm mostly coping by playing dress up. At age 55.

The film adaptation is quite good as well!

I was on the fence about this one. I've seen (and read) so many versions of the Frankenstein story that I wasn't sure it would be worth it, but I do Iove much of del Toro's work (particularly Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone). Thanks for helping me decide to add this to my viewing list!

I dunno. I once saw a six month old cat take down a standard poodle. My money is always on the feline.

Yet more evidence that I died many years ago, and am trapped in some form of surreal purgatory.

I hope so!!

This was all baffling enough before I knew she had a young teenaged daughter. What the FUCK is wrong with these people?????

🤤
My favourite baked potato was one I had many years ago at a barbeque place in Alabama: butter, chives, cheese, and juicy BBQ pulled pork. (VERY healthy and low calorie.)
I still dream about that baked potato.

Thanks.
I suppose, at very least, one can't call it cliched. 😏

Fair enough.

I'm becoming less and less surprised at the cruelty of which people (regardless of gender) are capable. They seem able to create mental frappuccino blends of selfishness and sociopathy, from which they find sipping easy, as long as it isn't hurting them personally. (My metaphors are loopy lately. 🫤)

I'm not sure if they actually believe what they are saying, or if it is simply part of an effort to ingratiate themselves to powerful men, in order to preserve what they perceive as a protected status.
Regardless of the reasoning, it's unforgivable.
