One of the strangest aspects of aging that they don't warn you about is watching as history gets rewritten right in front of your face and people 20 years younger than you confidently tell you about something you lived through and get it completely wrong.

the 'clubs' they mentioned are a thing that just does NOT exist anymore. I honestly think that's the biggest hole

like, clubs, or lj comms, or single-interest forums just do not exist. Today you toss fanart/discussion onto an open sea and pray other fans will see it and engage, and if not, too bad

Every once in awhile I think about how something "wasn't that long ago" and then I do the math and it's like 10+ years ago and I scream inwardly at the constant fleeting passage of time

Me, someone with 5000 unfinished projects waiting: ok, but WHAT IF I try to make a functional replica of this antique style radio that everyone is already making replicas of, but I do it more authentically and with more functions. What if I do that. I think I should (looks up parts online)

A rare interview with the creators of the always-funny, always-brilliant, and *usually*-sexy—or occasionally anti-sexy—OGLAF!

Cooper has kept a low profile over the years, but is legitimately one of the very best artists in comics today. Read OGLAF if you're old enough to drive!
Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal
Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...

I realize the main pattern of these animanga video essays made mainly by north Americans is that they seem to have an overconfidence in themselves to talk about a subject, just because they consumed enough anime about a certain genre, and don't bother to do proper research on jt

do you want another ian miles cheong? this is how you get another ian miles cheong. he’s no one with no accomplishments. let him vanish. take the time you’d spend dunking on him & read the wikipedia article on flatulence. the section on the the edo period art scroll showing a fart battle rocks.

"If you see this, quote with a title screen that’s iconic to you."

Lunar: The Silver Star
There's plenty that are iconic for me but this one is special, it was the first game I played with an *opening* instead of a basic title screen, and it just got you so pumped

I've noticed a few businesses have started having "Black November" sales instead of Black Friday sales, and the idea isn't new (and the sales are still mostly fake) but the name sounds kinda sinister, especially with the way everything is right now

So I don't remember if I posted it on here or FB but often in my dreams I'm aware that it's a dream and either choose to keep dreaming or wake up at that point. but I have this recurring dream that I have periodically, that I break a tooth, like the whole tooth just disastrously, and-

Good things really ARE possible again.
Funko admits “substantial doubt” it can continue as a going concern amid crashing sales and mounting debt.

The Pop! maker warns of potential loan defaults without fresh funding or a buyout, after a 14% sales drop and $250M in obligations.

Post yourself from a different era

2008ish, peak myspace "skulls on everything" vibes and boy do I sure look insufferable

It's funny you see all these memes romanticizing the 80s and 90s and people wanting to "go back" but I assume they want to somehow bring it back into the present and keep all of the conveniences of today. Like yeah I feel nostalgic about my childhood and miss some aspects of it but I don't miss-

there's some "drama" on threads because someone made up fake hate emails from a maga karen harrassing them and then used all the attention to beg people to buy stuff from them, until someone caught them

but like

seeing them, the posts were SO FAKE looking
people have lost their damn common sense-

My favorite part about this extremely lazy AI image trying to wrangle nostalgia, aside from the mangled words, is that the prices not only don't match what they're saying, but are clearly modern prices

Shloske would be like $70 if you adjusted for inflation lol

No one's paying that for shloske

A 34-year-old as a politician: My god he's like a baby. It's like they just elected an infant to be their mayor.

A 34-year-old as an athlete: You have to admire the bravery of him attempting that dunk, knowing full well the grim reaper is right behind him.

Every once in awhile I think about how I saw this recipe in a magazine, I think waiting in a doctor's office like 20 years ago, anyway the point is it involved rolling out a whole bunch of tootsie rolls like fondant over a cake, I think it was paula deen but I've never found that recipe again-

It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

Every once in awhile I think about the idea of Rocky Horror Picture Show being in movie theaters, just coming out as an actual movie in the 70s, well before everyone deciding it was a campy cult classic, and what that must have been like for 90% of the audience who went in expecting something else

There's a Bluray player that I've casually had my eye on for a while as being a nice model to have, but it was like $380 so I was not going to buy it unless I had excess money (lol)

I've watched it climb up to the 500s and idk if tariffs or some youtuber/tiktoker namedropped it

Maybe both lol

Being turned down for multiple different positions within the company I work for over the span of a couple months sure is emotionally exhausting

Hopes up, hopes dashed, wash rinse repeat x4

Hardest part is feeling like the imposter syndrome has been validated
