the 'clubs' they mentioned are a thing that just does NOT exist anymore. I honestly think that's the biggest hole
like, clubs, or lj comms, or single-interest forums just do not exist. Today you toss fanart/discussion onto an open sea and pray other fans will see it and engage, and if not, too bad

Every once in awhile I think about how something "wasn't that long ago" and then I do the math and it's like 10+ years ago and I scream inwardly at the constant fleeting passage of time

It's funny you see all these memes romanticizing the 80s and 90s and people wanting to "go back" but I assume they want to somehow bring it back into the present and keep all of the conveniences of today. Like yeah I feel nostalgic about my childhood and miss some aspects of it but I don't miss-

there's some "drama" on threads because someone made up fake hate emails from a maga karen harrassing them and then used all the attention to beg people to buy stuff from them, until someone caught them

Every once in awhile I think about the idea of Rocky Horror Picture Show being in movie theaters, just coming out as an actual movie in the 70s, well before everyone deciding it was a campy cult classic, and what that must have been like for 90% of the audience who went in expecting something else

There's a Bluray player that I've casually had my eye on for a while as being a nice model to have, but it was like $380 so I was not going to buy it unless I had excess money (lol)
I've watched it climb up to the 500s and idk if tariffs or some youtuber/tiktoker namedropped it
