“Pain or damage don’t end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you’re dead. Until then, you’ve got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.”

Reworking my logo and looking at fonts. Of course, Papyrus came up, and I thought of this hilarious sketch (with the sinful Comic Sans at the end). #SNL

Out of curiosity, I ran a few of short paragraphs through a couple of readability checkers. The results were depressing. The "scores" indicated that my sentences were too complex for the average reader to comprehend. The suggestions were to tailor to the best target age, that of a 7th grader.

Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

Somehow, the YouTube algorithm served up "What's My Line" recently. This show is so wholesome, yet so entertaining. This episode with Buddy Hackett and mystery guest Carol Burnett is a wonderful example of early TV games shows where gentle humor ruled the day.

Lowes has its Christmas displays and merch out already. The war on Christmas is getting worse each and every year. Of course, the war is on us rational people who aren’t ready for all this in freaking SEPTEMBER.

Talking heads on BBC News this morning, analyzing Trump’s decision to rename DoD to Department of War. Why do they take this seriously? He’s doing it because he’s a freaking child, and he’s playing at being a tough guy. Like every other damn thing he does.

The clearest picture of corporate greed in this country is CEO-to-worker pay ratios.

At the 100 lowest-paying major US companies, CEO pay averaged $17.2M in 2024.

Median worker pay at these companies was just $35,570.

That’s a ratio of 632 to 1.

How can anyone defend this?
