Jan 24 2016 - a tree in a front yard is covered in a thick hoar frost (thick fuzzy white ice) sparkling in the sun. Other trees visible are also frosty. Deep snow covers the residential street behind it and the yards around it. Deep ruts are in the street from passing vehicles. The sky is a soft blue. Jan 29 2005 - an overhead tree branch covered in a thick fluffy hoar frost that is 3-4 inches thick! A bright blue sky is in the background - photo was taken looking straight up.

This week we received emails from the University officially advising that the Awards committee had met on November 10th and conferred upon us the degree of Master of Arts in Fine Art. There was a link to an e-certificate, only valid as an e-document and it is watermarked to death, but hey, it will do until the proper paper one arrives in the mail, god knows when.

As artists it can feel like there's a pressure to make art faster, more generic, and marketable for a wide audience. Generating art is that idea to an extreme. I think we need to embrace niche art that has thought and care put into it. Not just for clients, but making something only for yourself.

I think I'm a little high on Collall All Purpose Glue... got the window & door open, but I've been in here all day working on a book - made the cover, covered it, then installed the preassembled block. Still have to cut and install the end papers. Ran out of book binding glue part way...

On Remembrance Day I share my Grandfather - Lionel E. Fennell. He volunteered in 1939, left a wife and two small boys (4 & 3 yrs). He didn't get home. #NeverForget #Veterans

During my time in the Canadian Armed Forces we were UN Peacekeepers in Germany, Cyprus and Egypt - but I never left Canada

Forearm of a person that has been painted with a series of overlapping autumn leaves. Starting at the bottom (the hand is at the top of the image) is a light green maple leaf that is slightly turning yellow, then two birch leaf types that are under the first leaf that is a dull brown/tan with dark veins, under those is another maple leaf that is bright orange and yellow, under that one are two more maple leaves that are starting to curl and dry up, the first is bright red and the last under that is brown and starting to rot.
