But ultimately history will judge him as the guy who refused to convict Trump after Jan 6th in the Senate and allow him to run for president again.
Mitch McConnell is almost uniquely attentive to his legacy among U.S. senators, and his votes against Patel, Gabbard, Hegseth and (presumably) RFK can be read as his understanding that history will regard those picks extraordinarily poorly.

The U.S. Left's cynicism and laughter at all of these things occurring in the U.S. government, which will impact everyone else around the globe, are not helpful. None of this is funny. The suffering people are already experiencing and what is to follow is insurmountable. Solutions or just stop.

This is grossly irresponsible reporting by the AP. What’s being offered is not a buyout. The deal is if you agree to resign in September you can continue working remotely until then. There is no buyout or severance.

Lest you assume that by “bipartisanship” he means Republicans should cross the aisle to check Trump, we saw what he means with the significant Democratic support for the disastrous Laken Riley bill. He means surrender. And so he should step aside for a new leader.
It is time to look to the future.

The challenges that face America are many and great.

The Senate must respond with resolve, bipartisanship, and fidelity to the working and middle class of this country.

You will read countless times today that the LA mayor cut the LA Fire Department's budget by $23 million.

That is a lie.

The budget was actually *increased* by $50 million.

Nurses at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester allege that cost-saving measures are causing pervasive lapses in care, including two patients dying after failing to receive potentially life-saving dialysis.
‘Probably the worst night of my life’: Saint Vincent Hospital nurses allege two patient deaths related to understaffing - The Boston Globe
