A lot of queer art has non-con themes, and I think for a lot queer people making that kind of art, it can be therapeutic and cathartic to recontextualize the myriad of traumas this world dumps onto us for being queer in a safe way that we're in control of.

But our consent doesn't matter to Bluesky.
I am unclear if the new restrictions on fictional non-con that go into effect next month will apply to me linking to HDG stories on AO3 anymore.

If it required a mod to read the thing to find the context I think I'd be safe but all HDG has the non-con tag because of the nature of the setting.

I can draw anything. I can make characters as abstract or grounded as I please. I can put them in peril or paradise at the flick of a wrist and the wisp of a whim. I can tear them to shreds and they'll be fine because I decide they're fine. Because it's all fake. You are trying to chain daydreams

Like, a lot of my work goes into these themes (and their fallout) a LOT, much of which is based on my own personal experience. Am I not allowed to make sense of the world around me and help others do the same, even the ugly parts?

"We are going to have to live here with each other" is the exact premise that Republicans do not agree about. Their proposition is mass immiseration, mass expulsion and mass murder. The only way to oppose political violence and avoid further political violence is to contend directly with that fact.
"All I can say for me in the work I do is that I want to create a space that takes our disagreements seriously, that takes the stakes of them seriously, the consequences for people seriously, but does so without deepening our divisions irreparably. We are going to have to live here with each other"

Original was “depictions of […] nonconsensual sexual activity,” now it’s “sexual content involving nonconsensual activity,” incl “illustrated or animated versions”

It’s a specific narrowing, this does seem like an escalation due to the emphasis on illustration and animation. Those words matter here
Not to bang on about this but... this was in the previous community guidelines too. And the one before. And the one before. I don't think they just ever enforced it?

Still think it's bad, but this isn't a new thing.
The bad news keep coming

These go into effect Oct 15th

i'm honestly not interested in the opinion of any cis person on the topic of trans rights. you don't know what our existence is like and you never can. by definition you aren't qualified to tell us or anyone else what threats aren't real and i'm damn sick of seeing you say we're making shit up.

point being, the opinions and analyses that i value the most about trans rights are not those of cis people but those of my community, the ones who have to stare down both barrels of increasing existential threats every single fucking day of their lives. our lives. that's what we're talking about.

🧵 So the latest update from NHS Blood and Transplant. The nurse on the clinical team has spoken to the 'sex assigned at birth' team, and has been told there is no clinical risk to trans women *because* they are using the male donation interval, and male reference ranges. 1/9

Oh look its the consequences of treating trans people as though they still are the sex they were assigned at birth

If you're quiet about your disabilities, you get accused of being a fake. If you're outspoken, you get accused of being attention seeking.

Disabled people deserve to be believed and supported without hate. We deserve to be able to thrive.
