Sorry November but I can’t do this current news cycle AND cold toes at the same time, one of you has got to go

Gosh, Josh, this was a DELIGHT to read. I laughed (on billionaires: "So put up or shut up...or put up and shut up. You're fine. You'll never not be fine.") & I got misty-eyed (on losing 💙ed ones to MAGA: "You are not required to build a bridge to a place you don't want to go in the first place.") 👏🏻
In this week's newsletter I wrote about losing a parent (to bad politics) and good tv shows and the billionaires who pretend they're going to leave a city if their taxes go up by an amount that will never make their lives worse.

Hi everyone, We are still firmly in what any calendar would tell us is the middle of November, and yet I feel like the year is basically over. It's not that I'm winding down for the holidays. Quite t...

I am so tired of how ppl are using cynicism to justify shitty positions. @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social nails it - "Cynicism is often just premature defeatism about what can happen all dressed up as confidence about what will happen..."

I’m editing photos for our next jewelry drop & I’m so obsessed with my own work here. These are made from things I find on the side of the road during clean-ups and/or things that can’t be traditionally recycled (that I collected or were donated) - straws, lemonade lids, bottles, & school folders.

Discovered this, from @99pi.org, through a recent @civileats.com salon, during which a convo sprang up about what constituted a #FoodSwamp. This, of course, led us to talking about #FoodDeserts, which also brought up an interesting convo about #FoodApartheid. 99percentinvisible.org/episode/634-...

I keep hearing about the YouTube show, ‘Surrounded,’ and have only seen/heard a few clips from it. My sense is that this is not a productive way to have discourse. Interesting to hear the takes on Commotion w/ Elamin Abdelmahmoud this week. www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...

JFC. How many people will needlessly die before someone realizes, “hey wait a minute that cancer research was maybe a good idea?” 🤬

Chat, is cancer research woke? The Trump administration seems to think so, having erased hundreds of millions of dollars being used for cancer research in a move that seems to be part of its anti-DEI, anti-trans, and anti-vaccine agendas.

Exactly this: “While the MAHA Commission is seeking to address a serious problem, whether it can successfully prevent and treat chronic disease depends on which factors the members deem to be driving the problem, what policy solutions they will choose to pursue, and who they will hold accountable.”

Listening to the Canadian Federal candidates' debate. 😵‍💫 I wonder what this would look like if it were 4 women on stage instead. Bloc Québécois' candidate Yves-François Blanchet saying, "Clean oil is a fairy tale," might be the only thing anyone has said this evening that has made any kind of sense.
