this is a good thread but I might actually take it further -- I don't think manosphere shit is actually about getting laid, I think it's literally about male loneliness, by which I mean, men addressing their loneliness via homosocial bonding through misogyny
at that point, you often see them let go of their pretensions towards being a Player and just go full Handmaiden's Tale. It's where they always were, but they deluded themselves into thinking it could be fun and frivolous

The whole male loneliness epidemics discourse kind of misses the point. There is plenty of discourse and examples of how to be a decent member of society that are in direct counterpoint to the manosphere, but they require work. Whereas the right wing grift offers an easy solution.

The general level of self awareness befitting of someone who clearly cares more that it’s THEM doing the right thing than the fact that the right thing is being done. Which, even if you end up doing the right thing, is by definition performative. And by a long stretch will alienate people.
