A reminder that next month the UK government will require all major porn sites to accrue a huge cache of potential blackmail data on their users that will definitely not get leaked in multiple security breaches
Major porn providers operating in the UK, including Pornhub, have confirmed to Ofcom that they will introduce age checks by 25 July, when the Protection of Children’s Codes come into force, the regulator said today.
Pornhub promises UK age checks by next month
British regulator Ofcom says age checks ‘will bring pornography into line with how we treat adult services in the real world’ while protecting privacy.

Whenever I see "AI ethics concerns" it's always crap like "should Claude have a social security number?!" and not "should OpenAI all be in jail for marketing ChatGPT like it's your friend and designing it to prioritize continuous engagement above all else?"
Oh yeah, Blake Lemoine basically got addicted to talking to the chatbot, personified it, then asked it a bunch of existential questions, to which it regurgitated mashups of 2001 and I, Robot.
