Honestly can't see why Burnham wanted it. I never liked Rishi but it sorted of got dumped on him like a pigeon died in mid-flight and landed in his lap. Just bemusing to think that he was going to win over the nation when most people forgot about him around the same time they did with Lembit Opik.

if the dems ever get back in office they will find they won't be able to do anything like what trump's doing in MN- partly because they got themselves branded as the defund the police crowd- so no means of enforcing their will, and because their base won't do this for them.

I don't want to start getting too big for my boots here, but I really don't know how Trumpism stops without a civil war where the cost becomes untenable for the right. Like, I don't want to be gung-ho but I don't see any variety of protesting or voting or general strikes that is going to stop this.

I had forgot how good Velvet Goldmine was! Magnificent. It's fucking bizarre how we had a decade where you could notionally make queer movies and all we got was netflix representation cludge instead of anything as good as that.

While I have plenty of criticisms of Lake's 'On Laudianism', I have enjoyed his discussion of the Laudian critique of sabbatarianism. It does reinforce, I think, the idea of a Laudian 'folkekirke' vision. This was seen in the Laudian defence of generous hospitality on Sundays. 1/2
