So, what's up: I was finally ready for another #catadoption . Chosen by TINY lovebug snowshoe siamese, Mimi, unaccountably at shelter 3 years. Came with 1.5 yo kitten who'd grown up in cage w/mum. Luna needed a LOT of socializing but has gone from hiss & hide to "pet me!" Papa supposedly Maine Coon!

So, what's up: I was finally ready for another #catadoption . Chosen by TINY lovebug snowshoe siamese, Mimi, unaccountably at shelter 3 years. Came with 1.5 yo kitten who'd grown up in cage w/mum. Luna needed a LOT of socializing but has gone from hiss & hide to "pet me!" Papa supposedly Maine Coon!
I return with trepidation and am immediately hit with so much news of despair that my fibromyalgic self is flattened. It's not that I bury my head in the sand — I donate, I call reps — but there is so MUCH it's overwhelming, and I haven't learned to filter bsky.

This sounds wacky but it is backed up by science.
3. If you see content that disturbs you, immediately (or as fast as possible) go and play 20-30 minutes of Tetris (or any other fast-paced game with your eyes sweeping over the visual field that has caused visual artifacts to linger when you close your eyes for you in the past).

Sickening. Since I'm visually impaired, I depend on audio c books. Voices add or subtract SO MUCH. I know @barnabyedwards.bsky.social puts hours into pronunciation prepaa. I've been afraid of losing purchases, but it's past time to cancel. Barnaby, any recs on Audible alternatives that respect VAs?
Hate this a lot. Value human creators, writers, artists, narrators, editors -- everyone in the chain of making a book and putting it out into the world should be a human being. Humans make art for humans.

i've been staring at this over and over for the last 12 hours being absolutely mind-boggled. It looks just like we always imagined, and yet it looks impossible. I wish Professor Andrew Lawson, who first realized these things happened over 100 years ago, I could see this.
Agh. So bonkers trying to function in a country sleepwalking into fascism. My logins are erratic bc I have to be ready to face the latest horror, to call Congress or do other ant-shouting-at-elephant resisting when I just want to fibro nap until 🍊 croaks. How the heck do y'all in warzones keep on?
