Stop sharing AI slop.

It's one thing if you don't know or just made a mistake. No need to breathe down someones neck b/c its harder to tell nowadays.

But if you do know (ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO KNOW) even if you're posting it to make fun of it or sharing it unironically... consider not doing that.

Anyone have tips for getting strong glue off glass jars? Right now, my only plan is to use a disposable pan to soak them in Undu.

Related: tips for unstickying hands? I'm learning that someone at Beech-nut baby foods is clearly an evil genius.

Weird as it sounds, I don't mind seeing a library book looking like this after circulating for several years. I'd much rather see a book circulating from 2013 that's tattered and loved, than one in pristine condition from being rarely opened!

Authors. Publishers. Please show your love to library staff and everyone who has to search for your work, and stop with the one word titles! 😭

A day working in apublic library: 2 Kindergarten classes got library cards and checked out books after a tour. Pretended I didn't see the couple who gave us 0 stats on our surveylook through the food pantry. Received the memorial card for a former storytime kid. 1/2

How's everyone's day going? Know the saying, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket?" I'm trying out a new one: "Don't put all your books on one side of the shelving cart and attempt to hip-check it out of your way. " Needs work, I know. Anyway, that's my morning so far.

Ok, librarians, this one is for you:

Started to look and see if my library system has any searchable "big books" for storytime as searchable in the catalog from home. Was thinking about how to refine my search and briefly hovered above "large print" because, technically... 😅

Libraries are one of our last third places, a public space where people can exist without having to spend money. They are access to books, yes, but also the Internet for those who don’t otherwise have access. They are creative spaces, create spaces, meeting, places. Libraries are democracy.
Trump’s trying to gut funding for libraries: you can fight back with ALA.

The President's executive order to dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services would be deeply harmful. We need to speak out.

Take action NOW: tell Congress to protect library funding.

Sometimes when reviewing children's books, it's important to check the illustrations. This is especially true with non-fiction, as some publishers will just slap in any stock photos. Today I came across one of the worst (best?) examples and laughed so hard.

Sometimes, it's best to just say "complainers are going to complain" and close that window.

I learned a very important lesson about Mod Podge today.

I don't know if my teen volunteers will be more upset that this happened or gleeful that I'm coloring it over after telling them how much I hate coloring. 😭

Where do I put it?! C'mon, publishers/cover designers, sometimes you KNOW you need to leave a little blank space!

It also makes me extra glad that "One Big Open Sky" is the one with multiple awards! Imagine if she'd written "Many Cluttered Things" or the like! 😅

I'm so glad these were announced on a morning I was at home. The way I CHEERED for some of these announcements was better suited for my empty house! Ha!

Hey everyone, please don't unplug electric items before turning them off & letting the motor stop- this goes for fans and ESPECIALLY the space heater in the library community room where the HVAC clearly isn't working. Ugh.

Working school concessions. Just had an Indian-American man try to pay for his son's teammates snack. This 6 year old pulled on all his Italian ancestors to argue back. Best thing I've seen today.

(And yes, the adults teamed up on him and little guy got to give mom back her money)

If probably be less skeptical about AI if my phone autocorrect would actually... correct my typing instead of making it so much worse. (Is decibel never defibrillator)

(Yes, this is my keyboard without me going back to correct)

My 12 yo recently said about a book, "It has that problem that a lot of children's books have, " which makes me realize that were getting to the point where she's going to be reading mostly teen books while I'm still in the Children's section. She'd better give me useful reviews.

"And other duties as needed."

No, this isn't bragging or complaining. Sometimes, it's a tightrope walk between doing what's right in the long run (making sure the contracted people do their job- which the wind makes difficult) and doing what right in the short term (keeping library patrons safe).
