I think my biggest issue with Overwatch is that the entire cast feels like a different person's OC that they refused to make any concessions on to make them all fit into a shared universe.
Yeah we've got some robots and ninjas and talking gorillas and cowboys too I guess just throw em all in there.

I feel like that's most superheroes to be fair, like the adaptations animated or otherwise get to be pure, simple and fun without decades of baggage and the need to switch things up.

I got caught up bad in the Blender tutorial trap; I eventually realised that I wasn't actually taking in a lot of it, so I'm working through my first proper character model right now. It's been slow going, but it's all mine, all original and it won't just be a copy of someone else's work.
Just start whatever project you're dreaming of, I'd be leagues ahead if I just swallowed my pride and started posting Non-Entity when I first drafted the script back in 2020 instead of waiting till I was "good enough" for it. ;v

Unfortunately I think the needless complexity is a core part of its success. Actual non-jokey roleplay requires imagination and an emotional vulnerability that most people are incredibly intimidated by and being able to abdicate that to endless dice rolls is extremely comforting to most people.
