📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).

It’s also concerning. 1/
PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.

Folks, this isn't to any of you specifically because I've seen more than one person doing it.

SUGGESTING THAT A BROWN WOMAN WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE TO REBUKE/TROLL A WHITE MAN

is super duper fucking racist on a pogo stick.

Please do not do that.

Enjoy that it will make Trump mad, sure.

it's so funny to see America's health insurance companies be like "look. If there's one thing we love it's denying you care. but we ran the numbers - and we cannot BELIEVE we're saying this - and it's cheaper for us to just pay for the vaccines than deal with you going to the ER."
Regardless of the disgraceful nonsense we will likely hear from this administration in the coming days on vaccine “recommendations,” Americas healthcare insurers issued a joint statement tonight saying coverage for Covid and flu shots will remain unchanged from prior years.

Speaks for itself.

The punch line. Seriously. 🤣
It's seven years since we posted on Twitter about how kids kept coming into the library asking if we had any books about FORTNITE. We didn't back then, and we'd never heard of it so we tried asking what it was.

As a Xennial, this is a sobering thought. Folks in the thread point out Heroin having a similar effect. Certainly something for later when I have time to think about this more.
people often ask what’s wrong with gen x, and, like, there are a lot of answers, but i think the AIDS epidemic and the specific people it wiped out is probably an under discussed contributor to the bomber with red dots diagram

Ain't gonna lie. I think I've finally found my favorite use case for AI 🤣. Just can't wait for the first meeting with only AI notetakers.

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Operationalizing Solid Queue in a Capistrano deployment strategy has not been fun. There are no migrations to create the database tables (only db:schema:load:queue). When Cap does a db:migrate, it wipes out db/queue_schema.rb before we have a chance to load the schema.
