No, guidance is not enforceable because it’s not rules. Legislation often imposes an obligation on defined people or bodies to “have regard to” guidance & the expectation is that it will usually be followed; but where there is good reason to depart this may be judged lawful if challenged.

I want to see non-disabled people shouting about the disability benefit cuts. If you spoke out about trans rights, abortion rights, or migrant rights in recent weeks? Good on you! If you aren’t doing the same for disabled people, ask yourself why.

Speaking as a clinical psychologist, I know PIP can make the difference for disabled people to actual live life instead of merely keep their heads above water. Please stand up against disability cuts.
Put another post up on LinkedIn in an attempt to galvanise more health professionals to make noise agaisnt these deadly #DisabilityBenefits cuts. Professionals cannot, via silence, enable Labour to #TakethePIP.

I wholly reject this concept.
Cutting programs designed to reduce science and healthcare disparities is as detrimental to science as anything else, both morally and functionally.

I RAGED at this on the radio yesterday, and will repeat my mantra: you cannot (MUST NOT) ask people to develop 'resilience' or 'grit' against those things that are in your power to change. 'Develop resilience' so often means 'your disability is inconveniencing me, please be less disabled' 🧵
This headline & Streeting's words are an insult to the thousands of neurodiverse kids who've been monumentally failed by an NHS on its knees where early interventions are provided by charities - if at all.
But yeah, put the onus back on to children to suck it up instead of addressing what's broken
