Imagine looking around America in 2025 and thinking, "What we need less of is morality."

The vast body of research that Ken Burns relied upon to make his new documentary on the American Revolution would be practically impossible to be produced today, what with the defunding of humanistic scholarship, the collapse of stable academic jobs, the attack on public history & academic freedom.🗃️

I’m starting to think maybe social media platforms making the internet posting accessible to the dumbest people alive was a mistake
POV: you are a young woman celebrating a recent academic success

With so much great tv coming out right now, this isn’t getting the attention it deserves. A+

Even at his most lapsed I would say all of Marty’s movies are at least thematically Catholic even if the theme is only “these guys sure aren’t good Catholics”
Potentially hot take?: Mean Streets is a Christian film, and Charlie's character portrays what it means to live as a "monk in this world" as Dostoevsky would say

The Christian right for decades has fear-mongered that federal agents (under Dem presidents) would "criminalize" Christianity and literally prevent them from worshipping.

Now that Trump's stormtroopers are doing it ... crickets
Here’s a story for every national news outlet:

In N.C., churchgoers are literally running into the woods as federal agents descend on the property.

“Inside the church, women and children sobbed as they wondered whether their loved ones had been taken.”

FWIW, I've reached out to the Alliance Defending Freedom and the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty — groups that have long touted their support for religious freedom — about things such as the treatment of clergy, alleged inability of ICE detainees to access religious rites, etc.

No response yet.

Jesus Christ. I feel ashamed as a member of the left that there wasn’t already a coordinated campaign to ask Matt Walsh what his definition of a child is, since we all know the answer

It is very funny that this Pope is just going to get jerseys from now on. Everyone decided that's what this Pope likes and that is it. It's like if your grandmother got you a puzzle for Christmas one year and you said you liked it so your entire extended family is like "oh that's the puzzle kid"
Spike Lee just blessed Pope Leo with a custom Knicks jersey during his visit to the Vatican, just one week after the Pope was gifted a custom Chicago Bulls one.

genuinely not surprising at all to me that the transmisogyny moral panic is moving all through the same anglosphere media network that is and continues to do massive coverups for the fact that their entire ruling class is good buddies with jeffrey epstein

What if strongly held views actually help you move fickle voters and even when elections?
I know this is deeply unfashionable but IMO politics largely consists of two things:

— Pandering to the fickle views of the voters to try to win elections

— Handling a series of tedious technical issues that most people don't care about or understand well

Having strongly held views not helpful.
I was going to say — I don't think this is a failing at all, it's way better than all the leftist intellectuals on here with their inflexible ideological dogmatism.

This has been my exact trajectory except I’ve never been to a charismatic catholic service. I’ve had to reevaluate a lot of my priors over the years but I’ve been right about Bill Clinton since the second grade
I hated Bill Clinton when I was a deeply conservative Charismatic Catholic child. I hated Bill Clinton when I was a relatively conservative adult. Now that I'm a radical left lunatic, I still hate that philandering cad Bill Clinton and if he's in the files, he needs to go to jail.
Buuuuuuut, Bill Clinton…

Seriously, if so, IDGAF.

Jail them all.

Each and every one of these predators names needs to be released to the public, world wide. They need to be held accountable for their actions, no matter who they are. Release the files & let the chips fall where they may. I hope all involved get hard time.

This is bad, but the pedantic part of my brain is bothered that 15 isn’t “barely legal”. Maybe barely illegal? As anyone told her this?
November 14, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Have you considered that it is genuinely and intentionally very funny?
After reading this book multiple times, I had to look up why it was considered a classic, and that’s literally it: It’s a terrible story about irredeemable people. Apparently, that was a big departure from the usual literature of the day, and that made it a Big Deal.

It doesn’t make any sense on its face. I don’t need to look at data to know the homes and condos in my neighborhood aren’t being purchased by recent immigrants with no papers. Maybe Saudi princes
you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
