🫠 We're doomed. I saw this in Beaverton yesterday. "eliminating the
unnecessary idling of personal vehicles would be the same as
taking 5 million vehicles off the roads." (2015)

This dude was a keynote speaker at the 2025 Abundance conference, along with Ezra Klein, Derek Thompson, and a host of other Abundance-aligned folks.

Heterodox thinking indeed.
The Abundance crowd LOVES masked agents kidnapping delivery drivers and snatching children away from their families

My thanks to all the public transit workers making sure we can get around during this weather.

Now has anyone seen how the battery buses are doing?

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

Mary Markos of NBC Boston is in Lynn, so of course used a tub of Fluff to show us how much snow has fallen.

If anyone wonders where I got the last MBTA public comment from:
May 2024 LA Metro update on bus electrification. They are receiving 95 electric buses this year, ordering up to 1,060 more. Since bus divisions are not yet fully capable of charging all buses, they will use 54 natural gas generators to charge buses.

So excited to experience a 50% failure rate on chargers here @mbta.com
July 2024 LA Metro update on G Line BRT charger issues. After less than 3 years of being fully electric, 4 of 8 New Flyer chargers are down. They are replacing/investigating. 8 40’ CNG buses being used and plan to use 5 new 60’ BYD electric buses.

Did you know that @georgetakei.bsky.social served on the Southern California Rapid Transit District (SCRTD) Board of Directors during the ‘70s and ‘80s? SCRTD is @metrolosangeles.bsky.social's predecessor! 🤓🚌🌴

What if I instead FEMA just protected people from all forms of ICE?
CNN: DHS officials have come to FEMA staff and told them to limit the use of the word ice…they are worried that by posting something like, watch out for the ice, that it's going to become a meme….

This should be a new unit of measurement.

I remember traveling from England to France and seeing the tidy british queue broken by people who refuse to fall in line. :)
not quite but the Porter Square Star Market was absolute chaos at the checkout line, you could have stunned a Brit at 20 yards with the mess of that queue

I am considering the epistemological implications of bus electrification.
January 22, 2026 at 3:49 AM
Question: why is that bus line you use that has more riders than my light rail line still a bus?
🧵 We still have work to do...

“Urban transit systems in most American cities... have become a genuine civil rights issue - and a valid one - because the layout of rapid-transit systems determines the accessibility of jobs to the black community. (1/3)

1979 report warns of warming world (C02 Newsletter, Vol. 1, no. 2)

President Carter's science adviser asked top scientists to check if the predictions of a warmer world b/c of carbon dioxide emissions were accurate.

They came back with a firm "hell yes."

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.
