For Shabana Mahmood to attack some of the most cruelly treated people in the world as having won a "golden ticket" because they manage to get to and claim asylum in Britain is unforgiveable.

A new, far right, low for which I can think of no precedent, by any UK Government.

Didn’t vote Labour, didn’t trust them. But I still thought they would be better than the Tories. I could never have imagined them being this much worse.

Labour's proposals on changes to the asylum system are deeply disturbing. Mahmood says this isnt about pandering to the far right but if that were true I doubt they would be taking inspiration from the cruel Danish system.

It is a very good thing Tom Harris is no longer an MP. What a foul attitude to take to young people taking an interest in politics and the House of Commons making space to accommodate them, as any serious democracy should. "This lot"? A sublime encapsulation of the bitter ageism blighting politics.
The hatred the youth parliament gets is just so out of proportion. Can these people hear themselves. It’s creepy.

This speech from Rachel Reeves is kind of frustrating because it shows that the Government can command the airwaves when it wants

That's something it has almost totally failed to do so far - over challenging racism, boosting the laws it has passed, tackling Reform, rebutting Tory ILR plans, etc etc

Andrew being stripped of his Princehood, has taken far too long.

Be in no doubt, this is a decision based on preservation of the monarchy. The media are determined to spin this as a moral decision by the King. If this had been the case it would have happened over a decade ago.

Well done Caerphilly.

Clear message to Labour and thankfully a rejection of Reform.

I'm Jewish. I'm also Mancunian.

Every other national party leader was interviewed by Laura Kunesberg during their conference.

Maybe the BBC thought as someone who also supports Palestine - I had nothing to say?

Ok. They’ve pissed me off.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

Starmer should not be meeting with Herzog in London. He should instead be seeking his arrest for his part in the genocide in Gaza.

When I posted that I was the "lesbian staffer" that quit Duffield's office, Linehan went for me and I had days and days of abuse (Duffield did nothing natch). It was probably the most online homophobia I've ever experienced, and he called me a disgrace to gay rights.

He is just a piece of trash. This is how Linehan showed up at court today for his harassment trial. Lets face it, he'll never give up in his hate crusade because it's the only thing that keeps him relevant. Stochastic terrorism is a perfect descriptor for what he does.

The media asking senior politicians about what flags they have in their homes is the lowest level of tripe I've ever heard.

Patriotism is not about flags, it is about caring for your country, looking out for others and bettering society and environment we all live in.

Flying a flag does nothing.

Wonderful news that @zackpolanski.bsky.social has been elected as Green Leader in England and Wales.

A sensible voice with equality at his core, I am sure his message will cut through.

Keir Starmer has just promoted Tim Allan - a man who has been on the Board of Sex Matters.

Starmer just put transphobia at the heart of his government.
September 1, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Attacking, scapegoating and othering a minority for power, whether it be trans people or immigrants, is straight from the same playbook.

The UK is a shambles of hatred and bigotry at the moment, fueled by the Far Right, the media and government inaction.

TERFS & Reform are working from same page.
August 31, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Using symbols and flags out of context to spread fear has long been a key part of the Far Right playbook.

Putting up flags on our streets is not a mark of patriotism, it is a mark of radicalisation by the Far Right in their bid to spread hate.

Do not buy into it.
