I was chatting with my mother about the good news and we commiserated about the poverty we have seen in NB over the course of my life. Last I heard the province has a country leading 25% rate of children living in poverty. It makes me fucking sick. Just business as usual in serf city.

Pleased to report that after about 27 months, I am once again gainfully employed, starting training in mid Feb. at a travel related contact centre. Tomorrow I drive to Dartmouth to collect the last of my stuff. Very grateful for all the support from old friends and family this past week.

Of course, as much as I joke and complain and put on a brave face with the old acquaintances I run into, I’m just scared and tired and exhausted from almost a year of living in survival mode. Here’s hoping it ends soon. I’m doing my best but it’s so hard sometimes.

There lots of things to love about Saint John but its idiotic municipal structure is not one of them. Still no regional municipality with Rothesay and Grand Bay and Hampton. Everyone is a special widdle city with its own “services” and an underfunded, inadequate mass transit system. And rail? Ha!

Just did my third hourlong walk of the week and didn’t mind it one bit. It helps that we’ve had unusually warm nights recently. I want to get more exercise and more cardio and maybe run again but first I need to rebuild leg strength and flexibility.
