A great ranking of rich countries' commitment to development🥇

Goes beyond the crude measure of quantity (and % of GDP), to look at quality of aid, exchange, and global public goods -including environment 🌿

As always, N. Europe ranks high, while the US hangs out at the bottom ⬇️
As aid budgets decline, the ways rich countries are driving development are more important than ever.

Any thoughts on the recent #inequality research from @nber.org?

The study points away from the popular understanding that income inequality is driven by differences between ethnic groups, pointing to differences within groups instead!

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Of course Gen-X is the greatest

But the article misses what was happening in the wider world that shaped our foreign policy outlook . During my junior year of HS, the #BerlinWall fell and #Mandela was freed.

Liberalism had won & the 3rd wave of #democratization was under way

Does the public support #degrowth?

Amazingly, the answer is "Yes" when people move past the label and have the opportunity to learn what it entails.
I'm excited to announce this new study, published in The Lancet Planetary Health, which explores public support for degrowth and ecosocialist transformation. The findings are quite surprising.

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.
