During my first academic misadventure, at UCSB in 1970, I encountered a young woman who set herself the task of converting me: from ‘Lutheranism’ to Xtianity. It is as though she believed – knowing nothing of Luther’s role in her own beliefs – that Lutherans knew nothing of the whole Trinity thing.
