I started the year yesterday with a long snowshoe trek while thinking of this Thomas Merton quote:

"One has to be alone, under the sky, before everything falls into place and one finds his own place in the midst of it all."

Happy New Year to all!!

A partially frozen creek with some dark water exposed in the middle surrounded by snow-covered ice. There is a snow-covered rock in the middle that can be seen through red branches reaching up through the snow on the bank of the creek. Tall naked trees reaching up into the clear blue winter sky. Again, through the middle of the photo is another path I cut through the snow with my snowshoes. My blue and black aluminum and plastic snowshoes leaning on a tree planter while I stopped for a short break. I love my new toy and am thankful we have received a ton of snow this week.

It was the perfect day to take my new Christmas present for a spin. Tackled a small hill at the park near my house and some of the urban trails. The snowfall last night helped!

Absolutely shame on defunding this vital and life-saving service! And homelessness was also pointed out to be the #1 local problem in 2025 in the local newspaper! Big disconnect! It's not all about mental illness and addiction either! It's about affordable rents!

I can't believe that it is the 19th of December again... time waits for no one. Although, I do get to spend time with one of my favorite books of all time.

I feel like one of the biggest problems Trump is running into right now is all these little courts, they want to throw up little blockages against everything he’s trying to do, whether it be his tariffs or deporting people. And I feel like we should do that in America. We should take America back for our native population. So, I’m not an expert on Hitler by any means, but as far as nationalism is concerned, I’m all that. Brice: I myself am actually Jewish, ancestrally. I’m Christian by faith, but Jewish by blood. I’ve actually read Mein Kampf. The end conclusions that he came to: absolutely abominable. But I strangely understood where he was coming from as far as wanting to improve the national state of Germany."

On this day, several years ago, I ordered a book on a whim so Amazon would deliver my sister's replacement vacuum bags. I'm so happy I took a photo to send to her to let her know they arrived. That order changed the course of my life!
