I gave a short paper today at a mini pop-up conference held by an online group I belong to. It was well received, and I got some great feedback. Now I guess I should finish it formally and try to get it published.

Spent the morning at the Project Bonhoeffer UK seminar and now spending the afternoon winterizing the gardens and house. (Snow predicted for Sunday.. small amount) I think the boss wants me back at work! Living that polyphonic life!

I have taught Peyton well. She is my senior researcher assistant. Her PA helped edit my dissertation. They both appreciate Bonhoeffer almost as much as I do! ;)

The year of "re-skilling" myself continues. I replaced some deck boards with just a drill, a hand saw, and an excellent playlist. I had fun and learned a lot.

They are interspersed in different spots in deck. A picture of a board that has been cut in at intricate angles to form around a post. I did it with a hand saw and am very proud of my work. A wooden deck with a board removed showing a hole. The new replacement of light clean wood lays beside the hole. Another Pic of a removed board, but this one has an angled end. This one was tricky for some reason... and it was the first one I did yesterday. I learned a lot from that one board! My drill, drill bits, measuring tape, and very old hammer.

A friend (who is more like family) and his sisters gave us their parent's piano last month. The last few weeks have been stressful, but learning how to play a new instrument has been wonderful. Music, for me, is certainly a refuge during these dark days.

Great Sunday! Morning with Bonhoeffer, early afternoon working on refinishing a table for my office, watched football with the family in the afternoon, nice dusk walk with Peyton and I made a great dinner.

Remember, especially during these dark days, to do things that make you happy.

The table was really beat up and worn when I picked it up from a neighbour last week. I spent a few days stripping what was left of the finish with a scraper, sanding it with an orbital sander and then spending yesterday afternoon hand sanding all the small hard to reach areas. A tan couch with lots of brown pillows on it. There is a gray and white cat asleep with his head between his out stretched white paws. He is lying over a dark brown pillow. This is how my cat Brees watches football. A large white pasta bowl with two stuffed twice baked potatoes in the middle of it. There is an abundance of marble cheese on them, giving them a lovely orange and white cheese colour.

I have been very busy, but I would be remiss if I did not mention that September is Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month. If you have a family history of brain aneurysms, talk to your doctor and get checked out. It may save your life!

I have now finally watched the one Doctor Blake Mysteries episode that has eluded me. What an excellent series. It is very underrated outside Australia. It's easily in my top 5 favorite mystery shows.
