Alternatively if you know of any good remote side hustle type things (recruiters don't do their job and would take too long to help even if I could get hired at a normal job again) I could really use one, dashing is the worst on my mental health

Lots going on but from outside it seems that at least part of the calculus was that flight disruption for middle class and up travelers matters more than life disruption for untold numbers who’ll be deprived of health care.

The thing about 'opposition parties' is they get their votes by being less evil than their opponents.
So if given the choice between fixing a problem their opponents create, vs letting their opponents create more problems, they choose the latter because it lowers the bar for them to get elected.
