I really enjoyed everyone’s #aurora pics. If you missed them or are hoping to see more I recommend the Sky Weather App and emails from AuroraWatch.
Catch that aurora light show last night? What about that magical sunset on Sunday?
Seems like we have more than our share of special sights
here in YEG.
The sight of the funicular working fine is always grand!

#skystorians - do you have a good intro/explainer text on the concept of the Noble Savage suitable for undergrads? Scanning my own library everything I have just skims it or take the concept for granted rather than acting as a 'first encounter with a concept' teaching source.

I go to stores to be left alone.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Haha yesss. Japanese copyright law doesn't fuck around.

Since I get challenged on this a lot: U.S. and Japan are both Berne Convention signatories, meaning the copyright is recognized between countries. They CAN go after American companies. And they are. And I love it.

All those mass shooter drills at school are now actively hiding from the US government as it kidnaps children. Good times.
Getting new details on this now:

As the arrest unfolded, teachers pleaded with the agents telling them the teacher had a work permit. The agents went into multiple rooms looking for teachers while children were present. One teacher hid with a child in her care while the agents stormed the facility.
Raids inside day cares had been off limits until this year, when, on his first day in office, President Donald Trump removed that protection.

The arrest reportedly took place in front of children.

Me a couple weeks ago in class: we’re going to read this Jawaharlal Nehru speech.
Tomorrow: you know that speech we read? Quoted yesterday by the incoming Mayor of NYC.
Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.
