I was your friendly, neighbourhood rhetoric and game studies diva. Now I’m not sure what’s going on. I'm into critical pedagogy, rhetorical genre studies, open ed, and trusting my students.

Junk science will surely sicken and kill many Florida school kids now that Vaccines are no longer required for entry into classrooms. This is absolutely fucking nuts.

Somehow through the magic of AI we have made computers less reliable than any handheld calculator from the previous 50 years.
yet opposing the integration of genAI into the classroom and other critical societal infrastructure somehow makes one a 'pessimist', 'anti-progress' & 'anti-innovation'

And so the Liberals tried their usual “ Industrial Peace” garbage to oppress worker rights. CUPE and the Air Canada attendants put Carney’s Liberals on notice. That outdated law can’t be used to break workers’ Charter rights. Solidarity!

Somehow, the flappy-bird moves of Diplocaulus in pleistogames.itch.io/cisuralian-c... are based on real science! Back in 1980, Cruickshank and Skews used a replica and a wind tunnel to show that tilting the head up while facing the current would propulse it upwards ⤴️

If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages

It's fascism. You ask yourself, "why are they doing [thing X]?" Fascism. It's fascism. Fascism is infinitely stupider than we dream, while also being infinitely worse than we are ready for.

Sad to hear that Margaret Boden, pioneer in cognitive science and artificial intelligence, has passed away.

Just a few days ago, someone reactivated the post below. I warmly recommend watching the video.

Thank you Margaret for founding and shaping our field.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.
