Here’s what many folks can’t tell you today because the NY Times and the Associated Press didn’t even cover our election results last night: 22 counties that voted for Donald Trump in 2024 just voted for Alicia Johnson last night.

Last night’s story in Georgia is a story about voters reclaiming our power. GYJC knocked on 132,491 doors to educate folks on the Public Service Commission race.

In Fayette, Houston, & Paulding County–communities long written off as unwinnable–GYJC showed up and changed what’s possible in Georgia.
Mike Johnson: "What happened last night is blue states and blue cities voted blue. We all saw that coming. And no one should read too much into last night's election results."

Successful candidates are both authentic and meet voters where they are. Period.
i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

Scrolling through some threads here, it seems like folks have gotten too comfortable on this site and need to be reminded of an important maxim from The Bad Place:

Don’t feed the trolls.

The all-GOP PSC has approved six rate hikes over the past two years, while Georgia Power is enjoying record-breaking profits. The average household is now paying more than $500 extra in power bills every year.

The math here is easy.

Utility rates are on the rise- so are Georgia Power’s profits.
Georgia Power's profit margins have reached the multi-billion dollar range following controversial rate increases.

Beating up a woman isn’t “really serious.”
Q: This has been reported for a while. Cory Mills was accused of beating a girlfriend in his DC apt. Are you concerned about these allegations?

JOHNSON: You have to ask Rep. Mills about that. He's been a faithful colleague. I don't know the details. Let's talk about things that are really serious

These are the same kind of weasels who would’ve called George Washington & America’s revolutionaries “terrorists.” They spend their days sucking up to King Trump & demonizing peaceful protest just as some in America sought to appease King George III.

Looking forward to No Kings Day.
Johnson describes planned No Kings rally as ‘hate America,’ ‘pro-Hamas’ gathering
Organizers largely blew off the rhetoric, but some Democrats online criticized the tone.

If federal agents marched down streets demanding papers — what would we say?
