Dell has been on this beat since the very beginning and points out a thing often missed: the cost to all of us for Amazon’s loss prevention strategy is a nationwide surveillance network.
Ring is first and foremost a scheme to charge Amazon customers to deter crime that costs Amazon (not the customers themselves) billions annually in refunds, returns, double shipping, and customer service overhead.

Proud to stand with Framingham residents outside the ISAP office this week. ICE’s so-called “Intensive Supervision Appearance Program” (ISAP) relies on private contractors to surveil our undocumented neighbors through biometric scans and ankle monitors, turning our communities into profit centers

Too often when discussing trans rights, we’re forced to be on the defensive, as Republicans wage attacks.

Today, we take the opportunity to look forward by introducing my Trans Bill of Rights, a comprehensive vision to provide protections for all trans and nonbinary people.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

So DOD risked civilian airspace to obliterate some fucking balloons; when FAA found out and asked them to stop they refused; FAA did what it had to keep people safe; when the public rightly freaked out, DOD relented, lied, and blamed the FAA.

Sounds like Hegseth!

Alan Dershowitz — Jeffrey Epstein's long-time attorney — enabled Epstein's abuse and sued a survivor.

Join us in demanding that Harvard University cut all ties with Alan Dershowitz immediately:
Tell Harvard University: Stop inviting Epstein enabler Alan Dershowitz
Here we go again. Harvard University is still promoting and lending its credibility to men who enabled Jeffrey Epstein--even after Epstein was convicted in 2008 for seeking sex with a minor and was forced to register as a sex offender. The guy all over the Epstein files that Harvard University keeps...

BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.

The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.

There’s a term for this experience (which I imagine many of us are having):

Moral injury.

Moral injury is the distress that occurs in response to betrayal by authority structures and being unable to prevent acts that go against one’s deeply held values and moral beliefs.
A sense of betrayal is a very tricky kind of grief to manage, because you're grieving someone who never really existed.

I've always held a pretty dim view of the US establishment & its institutions. After Trump's reelection and the Epstein files, though... I realize that even so, I feel betrayed.

We've spent a ton of time talking about teens getting injured on e-bikes (or illegal e-motos).

We've heard that crash rates are skyrocketing. Marin County Dept of Health even set up a dashboard to see how many e-bike/e-moto crashes are happening.

But how many kids are getting hurt *in cars*?

But, in light of the Marin County Healthcare District passing resolutions about the threat posed by e-bikes to teens, and a full state bill passing to further regulate Class 2 e-bikes, I think some perspective is worthwhile.

That aside, let's talk summary statistics.

3/4s of reported crashes are conventional (i.e. non-electric) bikes. Wow. Maybe we have a *bike* safety problem, and not just an e-bike problem.

3/4s of people crashing bikes are male. That figure held for both e- and conventional bikes.

Michigan Dems tell me they'll use this against Republicans big time:

If an increasing unpopular leader, known for shaping reality w/ lies, wanted to subvert democracy, would they: A) complain that the polls are “fake news”, B) threaten polling organizations into silence, C) sow distrust in election results, or D) find ways to disenfranchise voters of the other party?
Gallup announces, after 88 years, it will no longer track public approval of presidents. Trump's second-term approval rating fell to 36% in December, among the lowest ever recorded by the company. The president repeatedly has threatened to sue media and polling firms that portray him negatively.
