For the avoidance of doubt, the decision to disregard research on inequalities is also an ideological one. Choosing to focus on individual differences is an ideological decision; unsurprisingly, one that is preferable to government, despite their framing of it as apolitical

The logical positivism permeating this piece is something. Come take a humanities class where we can help to explain positivism, it’s historical genealogy, counter perspectives, and lots of other cool things!

I have had death threats for my work on trans rights. I have been stalked. I have had people try and have me thrown out of my University. I am by no means alone, and lots of trans-inclusive academics have spoken publicly about the violence and harassment they face. But no mention of that here.

“we reject the sterile fantasy of the detached scientist & call for the unapologetic recognition of subjectivity as central to all scientific work…we argue that the ongoing erasure of the human element in science weakens intellectual integrity & undermines the very rigor reformers claim to uphold” 👏
"Science is not, and has never been, a neutral endeavour... the notion that researchers can or should cleanse themselves of bias is untenable, potentially intellectually dishonest, and ethically fraught."

Elon saying he’s going to reprogram his chatbot’s view of history is a perfect example of why these kinds of AI products aren’t the neutral “tools” people always defend them as. They’re little political projects reflecting the ideologies of their creators

the most powerful men in the world are being pathetic online and right wing men are using it as evidence that men are better than women

look at this shit! there is no post-white when white supremacy exists. white supremacy won’t be dismantled by coddling white people and pretending they have nothing to do with it and don’t benefit from it
So sorry to disappoint. Self-purification is an essential step in civil disobedience. You can't dismantle white supremacy if you think of yourself as white. Post-white identity formation is a necessary step to enable folks whose ancestors upheld white supremacy to become active anti-racists.

the only benefit purportedly here for women is that “marriage benefits women more than men” - observably not true - and then the rest of it is all about what men want/deserve. man, we do not care

beautiful film! hope they never make a remake of it that totally strips it of all original meaning, turns the ending into an individualist nightmare, and takes away the cop villain in favour of making the scientist the villain instead (sarcasm 😃)
More than 20 years later, Lilo and Stitch still holds up wonderfully!

we’re closing this survey after the weekend, so please do take part if it’s relevant to you 😊
last chance to get your thoughts into this survey! really enjoying hearing people’s experiences with critical approaches to psych, and understanding how it’s being drawn on in the UK. there’s still time to take part in an interview too, if you want to chat in more depth - details in the next tweet!
calling all UK psychologists! we are hoping to hear from psychologists who draw on critical approaches to psychology in their work, through our qualitative survey that will close in 1 week: t.co/6u6wBeMN3v (1/3)

Ignoring scientific consensus, Labour have found some bigoted 'experts' to support the conclusion they had already come to.

It seems Malcolm Tucker is the inspiration behind the Labour Govt's approach to trans healthcare. Policy-based evidence.
