Ex-farm worker here.

We need to talk about this whole "But a living wage for farm workers would spike the cost of food!" thing.

Not true AT ALL.

Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.

The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.

At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.

I am heartbroken by the news from Colorado where Karen Diamond, a victim of the vicious attack earlier this month, has passed away.

May Karen’s memory be a blessing and a reminder that we must constantly work to eradicate hatred and violence.

You’d think those senators would care about their constituents
In SC, 1,310,000 children & adults are enrolled in Medicaid. That’s 18.8% of the state's population. A significant portion of these enrollees are children, with 2 in 5 (45%) being children, according to KFF. Additionally, 22% of Medicaid beneficiaries in South Carolina live in rural areas.

let's talk more about the shell game that is the Supreme Court's decision Trump v. CASA, the birthright citizenship case

for starters, it's about birthright citizenship

just neither the Court nor the admin wanted to say that aloud bc they know they're dead wrong

Due to the ongoing U.S. measles outbreak, a Texas man worried that his young son was at risk and took him to get vaccinated.

The cost of the shot? $1,400.

It hurts my heart every day that this is happening in America.
I believed our country was a place where if you called 911 you got help.
How have we lost our humanity?
“Is there any sign of life?”
“Have we heard a heartbeat?”
“Does she feel any kicking?”
“We don’t have the equipment to do that.”

That’s the full 911 audio from a nurse inside an ICE detention center near Denver, calling for help as a four-months-pregnant woman bled and cried out in pain.

If you left NY that would mean you still have a choice in that which as we’ve seen is a huge privilege in 2025.
I’ve seen lots of nonsense since Mamdani’s primary victory but the most irritating thread is people claiming they will leave NY if he is mayor. First of all,
Go! It’s fine. It’s FINE. Go swelter in FL or wherever. No one cares. And secondly shut up. You’re lying. You aren’t going anywhere.

Look, if you're Muslim and choosing to run for public office in this profoundly Islamophobic country, you do not scare easily. If you're Muslim and are in any public position in this country, you do not scare easily. The death threats are CONSTANT. Look at how unhinged white racists are.

That seems to hold zero sway for this administration. If anything it’s a lure.
Just to be crystal clear: bombing Iran is completely illegal.
June 22, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Yup
Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

Sage advice that’ll be hard to follow
We live in a rogue and dangerous country.

Do what you need to do to maintain your internal peace. Hold the core of your spirit. Pray for peace. Commit yourself to justice. And just rest.

I’m old enough to remember and I was strongly opposed then (& now) to war.
If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

In a risky, escalatory move, Trump bombed 3 Iranian nuclear sites—including Fordow.

This comes in spite of US Intel finding Iran is not within imminent reach of a nuclear weapon.

Iran’s proxies could retaliate against US bases in the region.

This is dangerously destabilizing.

A fucking nightmare
🚨 So, Trump, the most incompetent insane president in history, just bombed Iran without Congressional approval.
Now what? 🤦🏽‍♀️

The implications of this are vast…God help us.
