Progressive State Representative for the 1st Hampshire District in beautiful western Massachusetts who believes in the right to self determination, reproductive freedom, the separation of church and state, the power of libraries, and doing the research.

If you live in my district, these documents can be printed and shared. They show where to get help and where to provide it so we call get through this manufactured SNAP crisis.
If these are not hate symbols, what is?
And to be clear, this is a message about *who* they want to recruit, and it is only straight, White men who are okay with this.

Yes and he will do whatever the President tells him to do. He has one master and it is not the American people.
Speaker Johnson has literally said he's "not promising anyone anything."

For once, I believe him.

All I want for Christmas is for Kim Davis to go away now, and never ever pop up in the press ever again.
New: The Supreme Court DENIES Kim Davis' request to overturn Obergefell, the marriage equality decision. No noted dissents. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.

No faster way than to ensure people don't have kids than RFK Jr calling them "T*ump" babies.
"We've dropped infertility drugs to make lots of trump babies. I'm hoping by the midterms".......aside from the obvious creepiness, the gop have chosen to not use contingency funds for SNAP when 15 million babies & children rely on SNAP to not starve.

When you send your newsletter and one constituent responds, rudely, but he misspells all of his insults and you end up feeling badly for him because it must be hard to have all of your punchline fall flat because of spelling.

The whole political spectrum has shifted so far right that what was once accepted as a regular Democratic belief now seems "radical."
Just like M*GA kept pushing to the right, normalizing fringe beliefs, we need to work to normalize that putting people first is not radical, it is critical.
Accepting the 1936 nomination, FDR made a speech the language of which Zohran Mamdani mirrored last night:

“These economic royalists complain that we seek to overthrow the institutions of America. What they really complain of is that we seek to take away their power.“

This is Democratic language.

On top of refusing to fully fund SNAP during the shutdown, the Trump regime has:

-Cut $1 billion from USDA programs supporting food banks
-Enacted tariffs that have caused food prices to rise
-Made the largest cut to SNAP in history
-Canceled the annual food security survey

Shameful.

This is a truly disgusting order that allows the state to tell you what your gender is and not vice versa. True nanny state behavior.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration to enforce its anti-trans and anti-nonbinary passport policy during litigation.

The unsigned, four-paragraph order effectively reverses two lower-court decisions. The Democratic appointees dissent.

A real leader calls parties together and finds a solution. A bully tries to hurt people until they just give him his way. The current President of the United States is a bully and not a leader, which is why he has had zero meetings to end the shutdown but is cutting airtravel.

I really really wish that Trump had attended today's oral arguments at SCOTUS - given how poorly they are going for the tariffs/taxes.

The oligarchy came out in full force against Zohran Mamdani's fight for a more affordable NYC.

It didn't matter.

Let his victory in the face of Big Money serve as a reminder that people have the power.

Voter suppression laws are unpopular and when they are at the ballot, they lose.
Everyone should pay careful attention to the Maine voter ID ballot measure (Prop 1). It is on track to lose -- thereby proving that the GOP claims that voter ID laws are overwhelmingly popular is a lie. Perhaps now the legacy media will stop repeating that nonsense.

This is terrible news. Teen Vogue has done incredible political reporting over the last few years and this is an enormous loss.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I resent rich people who take away the funds for food stamps to buy another yacht.

I feel very lucky to live in a state that is standing up for democracy, and I felt even more so reading the list of things our AG is doing, including leading a 25-state coalition to restore SNAP benefits & winning in court yesterday. Here's more that she's doing below. Thanks @massago.bsky.social!

Quick reminders about HIP this morning!
As long as a #SNAP recipient keeps at least $0.01 on their EBT account, they can access $40+ of HIP for local fruits and vegetables in November in Massachusetts. HIP is a state funded program and is not affected by the shutdown.

The irony that this comes out on the day children across the US are out gorging themselves on candy. More foolishness from RFK.
I look forward to him weighing in soon about his boss' actions to deprive kids of food and what effect that will have.
FDA officials said children under 3 and older children not at high risk for tooth decay should avoid ingestible fluoride.

The agency sent letters to manufacturers warning them not to market the products to such children.
FDA limits fluoride tablets for children, stopping short of ban
The agency concluded ingestible fluoride should be limited to children aged three years and older who are at high risk for tooth decay.

The White House must now let the court know by EOD Monday how they plan to move forward with funding SNAP.

One of the things that makes my head explode is that the Trump administration is arguing in court that they cannot possibly issue SNAP benefits even though they are required to do so by Congress, but they are ensuring that ICE agents have all the funding they need during the shutdow.
