Tr*mp's haphazard efforts to ram through (and market) a peace deal while the Nobel is dishing out prizes has the energy of a shoebox diorama thrown together the night before a science fair by the kid who's going to smash it all to pieces if he doesn't win.

Reading the script for JUNO 17 years after seeing it. A little cutesy with some of the dialogue, but it holds up really well. What are your favorite comedies (not series but feature films)?

It bears repeating again and again: for Asians in America, proximity to whiteness will not shield you from white supremacy, no matter how successful or wealthy you become.

Solidarity with other oppressed groups is the answer.
Interesting how much resentment this photo created from white conservatives who assumed that the dismantling of DEI meant elite schools would return to the 1940s.

OpenAI's move to allow generating "Ghibly stlye" images isn't just a cute PR stunt. It is an expression of dominance and the will to reject and refuse democratic values. It is a vulgar display of power.

The Marines are leaving LA, but the precedent is set—the president has deployed the military on U.S. soil in order to silence his political enemies.

(If you haven't already, please consider reading my piece in @adroitjournal.bsky.social on the occupation of LA)

ON TOP of the ethical reasons to not use AI, it's also
1) bad at what it does
2) literally makes you stupider
3) has HUGE environmental costs: every search is equivalent to pouring out an entire bottle of water. It's not worth it to generate a cutesy emoji or have it write an error-riddled draft.
AI was trained on my books (without my permission and against my will) so this annoys me. I never use AI. Not for research, not for images, not for writing. AI used me.
I keep seeing reports of non-AI users being told that an AI detector has dubbed their work AI generated, and it makes me insane because:
1) AI detection tools *are themselves AI* and thus entirely bullshit; and
2) if an AI was trained on your works, of COURSE it’ll flag you as sounding “like” AI!

The oppression of the entire Latino community of Los Angeles right now is difficult to convey.

Normally vibrant local retail areas of East LA and SELA look like ghost towns this week. People are afraid to leave their homes. Parents afraid to go to work.

It's US citizens too. Anyone with brown skin

Stephen Miller represents everything vile about this administration and drawing more attention to him will (a) make it harder for the administration to pretend this isn't creepy white nationalism in action and (b) likely make Trump jealous to the point he shitcans him like Elon.

Win-win.
More people should be talking about the utter freak that is Stephen Miller and his white nationalist worldview. He's the architect behind most of this chaos as Trump is golfing, falling asleep during meetings, making money of memecoins and tripping while climbing stairs.

Most NEA translation grants for single books are around $12,500. An F/A–18 Super Hornet costs about $65M. These two jets dumped in the ocean would’ve financed 10,400 book translations.
