The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Right now the China and US relationship is like two drunks squaring up and picking up pieces of bar furniture to chuck at each other but then not throwing them and telling the rest of the drinkers this is a victory. We should be cheering cooperation and not the lack of a fight.

How will the world's consumers respond? Probably they won't.

Americans, like most people, find it very easy to shift their opinions along with group-think. I have noticed smart colleagues from the US veering closer to Trumpian positions and losing their ability to think for themselves. It's just easier to agree perhaps?
There is probably plenty going on inside Bill Gates' head, but I reckon one of the most parsimonious explanations of why he's sagely pronouncing that climate groups need to stop worrying about short-term emissions targets can be found in the sustainability reports of the company he founded.

2024 soybean exports to China: $13B.
Higher Ed: $14B.
Yes, all those internat’l students count as *exports.* Trump is STILL actively destroying that market.
