Hi, new followers! Welcome.

Expect queer & decolonial studies discourse, coloniality of curriculum debates, commentary on current events esp. India, UK, France, Aus - origin/fam/residence. And US.
My reads, food & scarves.
Receive flak from several constituencies. No hate-follows pls; I don't. Ta!
This is one of the best mini-series (4 episodes) I’ve watched in a long time. Highly recommended (in French).
Valérie Bonneton controls the narrative with her towering presence as the empathetic seeker of justice for women suffering men’s violence.
Akim Isker has directed an apropos feminist tale!

Four stages of butternut squash mash - dice, add mango powder, peppercorns, ginger, salt — slather with olive oil — cover the dish and bake — mash with a fork when cooked — garnish with pomegranate and fresh coriander.

An excellent explanation of the current eco-crisis through the forging of the concept climate coloniality. Professor Farhana Sultana addresses the question of decolonisation in its current alignment with climate change.

Euro-US colonial brokering. We all thought Denmark had signed 'wide-ranging autonomy' for Greenland and the Indigenous peoples of Greenland in 2009.
Nah, they'd rather underwrite US takeover of 'small pockets of land' which were never theirs to begin with. Why not relinquish Copenhagen? All of it.
“.. Denmark would give the United States sovereignty over small pockets of Greenlandic land where the United States could build military bases, according to three senior officials ..”

The ever-so astute Harsha Walia — author of *Border and Rule
Global Migration, Capitalism, and the Rise of Racist Nationalism* — on Carney (applicable to other Euro-leaders as well, shamefully passing as ‘resisters’). Reminder - there’s a well-established hierarchy in the imperial core.

What we wished for was more south-south discussions. All we ever hear is a constant north-north warring babble. They’ve always been melodramatic even after extracting resources, plundering & murdering. They’re still holding the majority world to ransom. It’s the permanent calcified world order.

It is undeniable that colonial-capitalist exploitation of resources and hoarding of wealth are both key variables in understanding how we got here.
The general consensus in the geopol west underscores ethic of hard work narrative as preamble for its current global position. It completely occludes colonial-capitalist exploitation & hoarding of resources that is in a large proportion responsible for planetary destruction.+

One conversation I don't think the world is ready for is how rooted in Christianity white supremacy actually is. It's a large pillar in the foundation that built white nationalism. Purity of mind. Purity of being. Purity of body. Purity of culture and society. And missionaries went everywhere.
You don't have to be white to uphold white supremacy.
You can be a woman & a conduit of patriarchy.
You can be gay & still promote homophobia.
Several folks have done it before & it will continue. Usha Vance, Kemi Badenoch et al are where they wish to be. Power/proximity to power is a helluva drug.

Such a captivating screen presence. Neeru Bajwa, a 45 y/o mum, is so pretty.
Born in Surrey, Canada to Punjabi migrant parents. School dropout & living her dream of becoming an actress in India. One of the most successful actresses in Punjabi cinema. Reverse migration?

German Jews were citizens of Germany at the start of 1933. By the end of 1933, the Nazis had
removed citizenship from naturalized citizen Jews.

In 1935, all German Jews were fully stripped of their German citizenship.

Citizenship under dictatorships is contingent for targeted minorities.
