Times change; we change w/ them. Always a chin-up moment when your work is valued in your country of residence. Like wine, French language is an acquired taste for me though.
Humbled to join the editorial board/comité de rédaction of Genre, sexualité & société, a top-tier FR journal of sexualities.

At an event in NY in 2023, Mamdani read from Umar Khalid’s letter. Khalid, a PhD student and scholar has been unlawfully jailed in India; it’s been over four years.
Political prisoners are a blot on our conscience.

What a beauty, this dance. Always wanted to learn how to dance (mostly uncoordinated moves - me). I’ve found my teacher, Noel Alexander, in the state of Kerala, India.
He’s taught the kid so well!

Think of Vance publicly demanding his wife to convert to Christianity through how whiteness ‘always already implies supremacism'(Lentin), part of ‘multiculturalist white supremacy’ (Rodriguez).
Usha V is no victim though. She’s an enabler of the white supremacist project that has turned against her.

On 14th Oct 2025, France Insoumise MPs fielded a bill to remove ‘sex’ designation from government IDs (French CNIs). A step in the right direction; much awaited & well appreciated. Belgium has a provision for enbys, I’m aware. France would be the first to do away w/ it for all, if written into law.

Fruit tastes best when local and in season. I brought back pomegranates from Greece as souvenir. It’s one of my fave fruit. I’ve had one every day this week. One last left.

Reminder that some folks paid a huge price for liberation and understood what it implied to disrupt systems of ransom that whiteness exercises transnationally.

Partner is a yellow daal boy. We have daal almost three times a week! And on his birthday we have daal in a lovely Afghani joint. We’ve known the Afghan uncle for at least 15 years :-) Afghani yellow daal is as succulent as always.

So yes some sections of El Moudjahid have been translated in this > 700 page compendium. Fanon’s pan-Africanism is on brand as is his incisive critique of de Gaulle. He formulates idea of ‘combatant anticolonialism’.
⤵️ Speech at All-African Peoples’ Conference, 1958, published in the journal.

Morning! Fanon students, one question:
Has the Algerian journal El Moudjahid been translated into English?
Also translation is full of complex meanings.
I don’t know but ‘mort atmosphérique’ cant simply be ‘omnipresent death’? It doesn’t include ‘social death’ that Fanon’s alludes to here, right?

Demeaning white supremacist bullcr*p.
1. Human worth is more than rhetorics of contribution.
2. Freddie was born a British subject, like other white folks, who tend to forget it. Not a migrant.
3. Loved so much that Farrokh Bulsara (Freddie) had to erase his Indian-Parsi heritage.
Get a grip!

Please stop wasting our time. Pause before you write. ‘Postcolonial theory … its younger cousin decolonial theory’
Younger cousin? I’d still prefer cousin brother/sister as they say in India were I in a flippant mood.
Who writes this rubbish?

Travel companion for re-reading and notemaking. Morning next to St Demetrius Church, Aristotle square leading to Aegean sea, and Mount Olympus skyline. And it’s incredibly sunny.

Anyhoo - family portrait from Aus. Meet my biosib’s third kid. They are a good Indian child with two names: one for outside, Slash & one at home, the Indian one, Chintu. Chintu spent these last six months with my parents but we’re now worried about when they leave. Enjoy it while you can.

Marion Maréchal’s insult to Rima Hassan (MP) of Palestinian origin is about the exclusionary construction of a national community (‘we’): ‘We ‘generously’ let you in’.
This ‘we’ is a racialised white ‘we’. Naming its mechanism of exclusion is important; both Hassan & myself are excluded from it.

Brilliant open access essay of Ethnic & Racial Studies SI on the 'how' of racism. Esp that institutions require 'mechanics' to run--and those 'mechanics' are people!
Bonilla-Siliva & Lewis reorient the discussion in a meaningful way. Power does not operate of its own volition, they suggest.
