A) BOSS Pets: A merseyside pet shop whose name plays on the Liverpool word meaning "very good"
B) Hugo BOSS: A clothes company founded by an actual Nazi; made the uniforms for the SS using forced labour.

And yet it's B suing A to protect their brand. Wild.

I can't get the absolutely harrowing recording of Kipling's poem "Boots" in 28 Years Later out of my head as it goes from metronomic to hysterical 1

Fellas, is it gay to have a wife who drives a car?

Difficult to express the contempt I feel for this.

No, not all Jews think "Yes, there is a genocide happening right now and children are being burnt alive, but on the other hand some of those protesting really are antisemites, which is bad, so who knows what to do?"

The trouble with having so many MPs from two certain universities is that they seem to think every other university a) is worthless b) is not the cornerstone of many local economies
god this man's ideas would be more disastrous for local economies than mephedrone and spice put together

Have you heard the good news is the bad news?
Exit polls found that 81% of white evangelicals backed Trump. It’s virtually identical to 2016 and 2020. They haven’t changed. They’re not ashamed of him. They have no problem having their faith defined by his actions. (And we shouldn’t hesitate in connecting those dots.)

Every time an editor says 'kill your darlings' a demon child dies

(only to be reborn, louder, slimier and screaming for more delicious headspace about 3 weeks later)
And just like that, my brain generated yet another idea for a novel. To join all the other ideas for novels I'll never write.

All screaming to be written.

My half born demon children.

They sing so sweetly.

As I begin wading through the whirlwind of semi-colons that signals the beginning of marking season I am going to keep murmuring this to myself for comfort...
Grammar, in its most vibrant form, is not about adhering to a set of implacable rules, but rather about exploring the forms of conceptual play made possible by those structuring tendencies.

I worry that new writers, raised in an auto-correcting panopticon at all times will lose this sense of play.
