So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

The administration wants you to think that the 287(g) program is inevitable. In fact, it's the opposite. 287(g) agreements are vulnerable in so many places, and there's tons of great political hay to be made in killing them.

Y’all, you’ll *never guess* what Jason Bordoff and Megan O’Sullivan think is going to happen with oil demand.
From the latest big Foreign Affairs energy piece, by Jason Bordoff & Megan O'Sullivan.
They're comparing one scenario published in 2024 with a completely different type of scenario (to be) published in 2025 - to say oil demand will rise and therefore problems of supply crunch/concentration loom.

Wrong—the Arms Export Control Act and Foreign Assistance Act both have provisions which enable the Presidency to withhold aid under specific conditions— and these provisions override individual MOUs that are held between the USG and a foreign country because they are actually-existing binding law.
No President can issue an embargo against Israel, because of US laws requiring that the US support Israel.

That was my whole point. Nothing in the relationship with Israel can change until those laws do.
